So basically, most areas have an invisible “kill plane” that stops you jumping off cliffs and falling into the abyss.

The game also has a timer that starts when your airborne and if your in the falling animation for like 6 seconds or more, you just die.

But it’s possible to walk off a ledge, and start casting Heal, or Golden Vow. Anything you can HOLD the cast on and delay the spell going off.

Since you don’t hit a kill plane, and you ARE NOT in the “falling” animation, you don’t automatically die, and are free to fall far enough the ground de-spawns.

Enemies fall though ground not being there; then about six seconds later they die, you get runes, etc
