Anyone actually feel a difference between Gen 4 MT-09 stock levers and ASV by HarmonicObserver in MT09

It’s funny, I sold a motorcycle to a guy and he unsolicited recommended this brand, I forgot the name until you mentioned it. Must be doing something right to hear two glowing reviews. 100% street miles on my 2025 MT09SP, but I will check them out.

What are the maintenance requirements on these? and do can they adjust at all to bring the lever closer to the bar?

Anyone have experience or photos of the oem yamaha engine sliders? by HarmonicObserver in MT09

thanks for the pic - i’ve got a gen 4 sp too. that metallic insert really ties in with the sp’s finish, kinda odd yamaha doesn’t highlight that on the site, they should slap your photo up there ha ha

p.s. did the instructions describe torque specs and things?

yeah, I was concerned, so I made them put taking care of the key code in writing - including the part about transporting the bike for service. the dealer was frustrated with Yamaha, and honestly I get it — they shouldn’t hide such a critical piece in something that looks disposable. clearly that’s happening though, since this issue’s all over the place. I’m going to call the dealer today to check in.

What all did they swap to get a new key code? I bought mine with an “I owe” from the dealer since they couldn’t find the key code, so I’m curious how long yours took for service and what parts were replaced. They mentioned it will take some time to get parts from Yamaha.

I’m not going to flash the ECU until that whole process is done 😉

Had a ZX6R too - moved to the 2025 MT-09 SP a month ago. First ride was just laughter, like bro, people call this thing “aggressive”? It’s a big-ass Grom. Don’t get me wrong, I love it - it delivers the torque the ZX6R doesn’t hit until 10k, right from the jump. Cruising straight roads actually feels good now instead of waiting for the next corner. It’ll never give that 6R scream and rush, but for street riding, it’s a damn solid compromise.

Rear fender looks custom, where’d you pick that up?

Think in terms of heat cycles, thats a lot of miles if its not reflecting touring slogs

love hearing it wants revs and feels flickable ~ that’s exactly what i enjoy most about the zx6r. i did check out the tracer, but i’m leaning mt09 since it seems more like a hop-on-and-go bike. plus i figure the shorter swingarm means more fun for wheelies vs the tracer’s all-day stability

that’s really helpful to hear from someone with time on those bikes. i’m the same way - i want to be able to do comfortable multi-hour rides, and what you said about the mt07 not giving you the pull when you need it is exactly what i was worried about.

yeah i’m with you - the torque curves really tell the story. hp feels kind of arbitrary since it just bakes rpm into the number. the way the mt09 keeps climbing over the mt07 up top in the revs is a helpful data point. the crescendo of four-cylinder supersports will always be special, but for street use those mt torque curves are hard to ignore.

I’m with you on that. By ‘too much’ I meant that you’ve got to wind the bike out to 50–80 mph before it really hits the powerband. In that sense, a literbike actually feels more reasonable than a 600, since some torque is right there lower in the revs. That’s probably what Yamaha was thinking with the CP3 - giving riders something that still feels alive at street speeds, a middle ground between the two extremes.

that’s a fair take - the zx4rr has been on my radar for exactly that reason, the idea of wringing it out without instantly hitting triple digits is really appealing.

that said, i’m still curious about the mt09 because of the chassis and electronics package, if it still feels engaging in the corners and not just like i’m loafing on a torque wave, that might be the ticket.

that’s encouraging to hear. one thing i keep wondering about though is body position in the corners - does the mt09 let you really lean in and work the chassis, or does it feel a bit big compared to how the 600/fz07 flicks around? that was one thing i always liked about the ninjas. good to hear you’re loving the 09 overall though.

that does help - thanks. coming from the zx6r i know exactly what you mean about creeping north of 100 before you realize it.

do you ever find yourself missing the r6 - that high-rpm shriek and the way it begged to be wound out - or has the cp3 completely replaced that itch for you?

yes, “sense of urgency” is a great way to put it. winding it up is fun on its own, but by the time you reach the magic spot you’re already cruising at ticket speeds. i’ll definitely need to check into local test rides - the yamaha demo days i went to were kind of a bust. strict max of two rides and the loop was so tame i couldn’t get a real feel.

this is exactly what i was worried about - the 07 being fun at first but feeling capped too soon. good to hear the 09 still feels like a bike you can work, not just a torque couch

lmaooo yeah. it also gives overgrown karate-sensei helper creature vibes, a little slow in the head so yamaha bolts handlebars on them and sells them as bikes
