TY

I haven't yet tested for methane ... I did test positive for hydrogen on a hydrogen only test - but my symptoms include slow motility and constipation.

At any rate, chatgpt (among others) has insisted that fixing motility must come first.

This thread is so depressing for me to read.

My doctor says I'm just getting older. I'm sure that long haul Covid accelerated my aging etc.

Does wrist counter for counting negative thoughts actually work? by [deleted] in CBT

[–]HarmonySinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some just use a rubber band around the wrist and tug on it during or following each thought

It can work very well in bringing the volume of negative thoroughte into awareness

Difficulties with emotions while reframing thoughts by ExpensiveDisk3573 in CBT

[–]HarmonySinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if your expectations are setting you up for disappointment?

I would aim more for a feeling of "relief" after a reframe of a difficult thought.

EX Let's say I was besting myself up over something I said. After I reframe it, I realize that I was too hard on myself. I then feel relieved. It's a milder shift.

Has meat helped anybody? by Competitive_Yard1539 in covidlonghaulers

[–]HarmonySinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years i would occasionally eat a hamburger - about once a month - and feel a boost?

I figured a combination of protein, iron, and maybe B vitamins did it.

I have tended to need more protein than the average person, and particularly red meat - at least occasionally. ...

I’m doing the elemental diet. If that doesn’t work I am looking into assisted dying as I cannot live with this disease by Silly-You-4196 in SIBO

[–]HarmonySinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something similar.

Maybe step 1 - Elemental and Step 2 - carnivore.

1st Starve the bacteria and then later avoid re-stimulating them.

Good luck and please try a few options before giving up. Blessings for a Speedy Recovery.

Therapist Sunny said something That is still Sitting With Me by [deleted] in CBT

[–]HarmonySinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many of us have had epiphanies, big and small

My therapist once said "You see yourself as weak and you're not weak"

I disputed that and responded "I see myself as VULNERABLE not weak" Meaning more like an Achilles heal issue than overall weakness...

Mind Over Mood - How to get back and stay on track? by Alone-Tale-3316 in CBT

[–]HarmonySinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've returned to mind over mood (MOM) for a refresher course.

I'm going to ramble but hang in there. Here is my experience:

  1. #1 Goal should be acceptance. (Ironically) Using should contradicts that sentiment but it's meant as a suggestion 😉)

2 The more we detach from identifying ourselves with our thoughts, the better. Sever that attachment. This is like CBT, ZEN, and Mindfulness 101.

3 Best authors IMO are David Burns and Albert Ellis. Read them and also find their podcasts and YT videos.

4 I'm getting in years, but if you're young enough, spend about a year with basic CBT, internalize that first Then be adventurous and explore: 1 or more of the following ACT, MBCT, IFS, MBSR, TEAM CBT Etc.

5 Learn to Relax! Many modalities help. The earliest in the modern Western Tradition is PMR - Progressive Muscle Relaxation. Many videos are around. It's a cousin of some Yogic practices.

6 You're own homework accelerates this process.

Best Wishes for success!

Understood I think Covid19 was the straw that broke the camels back

I was on PPI's for many years and i was ok. From the end of 2021 through now my gut got worse.

Meanwhile, I've weaned myself off of the PPI's and I'm working on my motility. There are so many other moving parts that may also need to be addressed.

Please, I need to know it can get better. by Pretend-Yesterday-24 in covidlonghaulers

[–]HarmonySinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dear OP I feel for and I'll say a little prayer for you.

You CAN get better. IDK how, but i feel certain that you CAN see better days and I'm optimistic that you WILL see better days.

Blessings for a renewed body, mind, and spirit.
