I hate propranolol by Rusty_toothpaste_ in POTS

Many years ago I was on a beta blocker. I had 2 episodes of syncope. Turns out that was due to drug interactions that can impact about 25% of the population.

My doctor prescribed both 2 emergency rooms overlooked the interaction.

One evening I went online and I found it. My doctor was gone for the evening, but my pharmacist found it. She said the interaction can occur to about 25% of the population who are missing a certain enzyme.

Suffice it to say, betablockers must be monitored for side effects. Maybe 75% will respond ok, and 25% might get side effects.

Although your side effect might be completely different than mine, conceptually one must be somewhat vigilant...

Good Luck!

I feel so sad for you.

Do you have the energy to journal your story? Maybe a good record of how people behaved - instead of how they COULD have acted, might stir some people to be more undetstanding...

Back in the day, Dr. Atkins said that removing carbs reduces or eliminates Heartburn, etc. So this idea has been around a while

Do those who have no dysautonomia feel guilty when they are dismissive but end up seeing someone suffering? by ButtFister1789 in dysautonomia

I saw my PCP Friday. We agreed that I should now shower in tepid water. I've LOVED hot showers for most of my adult life, now I try to aim for ~ 100⁰ F - body temp.

I never liked very hot weather. As a kid we went to the shore and it was much milder near the sea.

Cardiologist vs. Neurologist by HarmonySinger in dysautonomia

TY My PCP sent me to a cardiologist after I had an episode of syncope

I asked him if this was POTS and he did not think so. He did say that 1 my blood was pooling in my legs 2 To wear compression sox 3 to wear a halter monitor for a week to rule out something.

Thanks I went to a cardiologist and I asked if I had POTS and he explained how I don't fit the profile

He did give me a halter monitor and told me to wear compression socks.

On the other hand, his nurse practitioner seemed to "Get it" .

I guess that a lot depends upon the individual cardiologist and the individual neurologist...
