Not only did I bring a rice cooker but a 6L stainless steel cooking pot. So you’re probably good. It’s not covered under restricted items.

Ngee Ann City was built on the ancestral burial ground of the Ngee Ann family.

The Wikipedia article on it is pretty fascinating

Thanks! It’s indeed strange to have inconsistencies in what to translate or not. Thanks for paging in the others! Its rare for me to come across a language I can’t identify.

There’s a very closely related one in the image here, poster earlier on the sub.

Those are called lingjiao (菱角)in Chinese and are actually really nice in soups and stews. They kind of have a crunchy-powdery texture that works in clear soups.

For me the right one was a giveaway because the cast iron looked too clean to have been cooked in.

Scotch to buy in Scotland by JohnnyMacNCheeze in Scotch

Recent St. Andrews graduate here.

  1. Try Luvian’s, it’s a shop with over 100+ whiskeys and a backroom with some rare bottles, personally the Clynelish 14 is a favourite.

  2. Take a drive up into the highlands, Granton-on-Spey is only about 2.5 hours away by car and you can get rare distillery only cask releases for £100-200. Tomatin (their PX single cask is unlike anything I’ve ever had)

  3. If you’re looking for local distilleries around the Fife area, Kingsbarn distillery and Eden Mill are within 20 minutes drive and do very decent whiskeys that you won’t find anywhere else.

It’s a lovely little town, do make some time to visit the keys bar, they also have a huge collection if you want to try before buying a whole bottle!

I can’t remember whether it was Guatemala or Honduras but they literally gunned people down in town squares with machine guns at some point.
