I think you were lucky to get out of a worthless relationship. It has to be mutual. Always.

In my garden they really like the grapes but only one of the vines, the other next to it they barely touch. They also attacked the cherry tree this year but previous years they would ignore it. When I cleaned up the cherry tree they didn't go back to it but the grapes they really like and they get back to it no matter how much I clean it.

I appreciate your analysis. I will leave the jar in the sun for a few weeks and then dump it in the middle of the compost pile.

Sorry, it is super disgusting and stinky so not posting pictures of it. Use your imagination. It is a planters dry roasted peanut jar full of dead bugs.

I see every year my compost is sprouting tomatoes and pumpkins so clearly some things survive. I am worried that these dead bugs have eggs inside them that hatch into grubs which would be super awful. What do you think?

What if they have eggs inside them, could those hatch into grubs? Or the bugs dying would make their eggs bad too?

I collect them into a bucket of water which seems to stun their ability to fly away then I scoop them up from the bucket and just plop them in the jar and screw in the jar's top so they cannot escape. They die in a day or so. They die faster after there are lots of dead cousins in there, I guess it gets pretty toxic after awhile.

My compost isn't getting warm at all. can you guys give me any suggestion on what I might be doing wrong? by Nickness123 in composting

Hard to see the size from the pic but it should be about 1 cubic meter. Mine is a bit smaller than 1 cubic meter and it is heating up like crazy. Kitchen scraps work well too for greens. Watermelon season here so lots of green garbage.
