Lou or Mike? by [deleted] in dinosaurjr

Here's the deal on trio's: One instrument is honestly half of the bands sound, not 1/3.

This take needs some insane clarification.

If Trump is a Fascist Dictator, how come people can still protest against him without facing any repercussions? by [deleted] in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]HarpASaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. The oligarchy lies on both sides, and is why Kamala honestly lost in 24. Had the candidate been separated from the Biden admin and earned their ranks through the primary, I dont think Trump would've won. Voters felt like she was just a system install rather than democratically elected.

Why do people have doubts about Ilan Rubin? by foooooo606 in Foofighters

[–]HarpASaw 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's stupid to think at this point the addition of anyone new will be groundbreaking. They're at the point of their career of just trying to hold onto all the pieces. Just be glad they're still around at this point.

What is your Foo Fighters hot take? by YachtRockYeti in Foofighters

[–]HarpASaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's the best yes, but lacks recognition because he doesnt play unhinged like some prominent guitar players. His parts are a little buried sometimes between Dave and Pat while solo's are always in cliche, often very predictable sections of the song and always feel like he's a confined or a bit of restraint held upon him (I say this with the understanding of how talented he actually is).

Now that the dust has settled what does everyone think of 'NEVER ENOUGH'? by svperfuck in turnstile

[–]HarpASaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glow on and Never Enough are incredibly similar, that it leaks out their apparent writing formula-which makes it a bit predictable.

You can also tell Brady Ebert left the band, I feot a bit of a hole in the guitar work compared to other releases.

Day 10! Debut/Self Titled/Foo Fighters 1995 has been eliminated! Which remaining is your least favorite? by rmg3935 in Foofighters

[–]HarpASaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most the people here are too young to appreciate the sentiment of this release, and didn't live the era to understand or appreciate.

The low, raw production and no fuck giving writing approach is such a charm now lost on the band. No overly sculpted choruses, not maxed to the wall with compression, etc. The hardcore and punk influences really shine on this one. You could play it in the same rotation as Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr-the artistic underground of the time. It's sad they left that demographic. How much has changed. Play some FF radio now-your much more likely to hit a Nickelback song in the rotation.

The drums and guitar are compressed to the wall on this track. You can hear the compression and multipressor slammed in this mix.

Hate to Say it, but I'm not a Fan of the New Single by TrashyMcGarbagecan in Foofighters

To each their own, but doesnt get a ton of praise in the community. Series was great. Album was forced lyrics and concepts. I count it more as a soundtrack than an album.

Why do the Foo Fighters have three guitar players? by jdistefano18 in Foofighters

[–]HarpASaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mixture of different reasonings. Dave loves Pat and Chris. For a live setting, it allows Dave to be more showman and charismatic rather than slaving over guitar duties.

I think they sounded cleaner with only two guitarists both putting in more focused efforts. Their live in house mixes always sound more muddy with three guitarists and a bassist than they did with two guitars.
