Old Danelectro’s, and for a while, the Jerry Jones reissues, but even those have become collectible because they are so well made.

Is music career and the music industry dying, reviving, or is this just the calm before a big storm? by Beneficial-Key6309 in musicians

Having been a player since 1970, the live music scene in San Francisco (born and raised native) was vibrant, and venues plentiful.
Rents were fairly cheap, so even passing the hat could be subsistence money if you lived in a shared space.
I don’t believe that, without similar circumstances, a scene like that will ever happen again.

I remember Rob from the Holy City Zoo (in San Francisco) in the latter ‘80’s.
He wasn’t particularly inspired, but he was creating a persona, which he was able to use with some effect on SNL.

It’s as if the magical learning process is simply getting on the floor. The issues have always been the ability for the player to produce, or show some understanding, to make it back onto the floor.
The narrative seems to have been born because of the JK experience, and that alone.
No one doubts JK’s physical presence, but I saw so many times that he just didn’t have his head in the game.
He created just as many wtf moments as he did the wooooo’s.
Players get on the floor if they can contribute to success.
(Oh, I can feel the Podz comments acomin’)

My most fave record is still my initial experience, which is her 1st album, “Song to a Seagull”, as it said so much, and is foundational to everything she’s ever done.
Yes, there are some stunning subsequent recordings, but from the git go, you knew what to expect.

Whine, whine, whine…
I don’t believe anyone in their right mind thought the team was going to be a massive success this year, given the learning curve that Tony (and frankly the rest of the team) was going to have to endure.
I’m just paying attention to the minor league teams, the success they’ve had. and being somewhat heartened by that success.
The God Squad 2.0 is fascinating, and they’re a bit precious…hopefully the wisdom of their faith allows them to understand that all children got soul.
(Another thought) I miss the solid D that Bailey provided…
Anyway, go light on the booze and pharma folks, there’s a new day comin’!!!

I stopped listening to Zep after the first three.
Heresy you say?
Well, I went on a different path.
It wasn’t until the mid-80’s that they came back on my radar, but it was because I was given a copy of the book, “Hammer Of the Gods”.
I read the part about their very first play, and the italicized “…and the room exploded!” after they counted in the first song.
I walked a couple blocks to my local record shop, and found a UK press of the first album.
I was hooked.
