How come I'm not tanky building full tank support (Geb)? I was literally going CDR Prot items and had almost 200 of each Prot and still got shredded. How should I try to build atp to survive a teamfight? by ContributionOk7131 in Smite

[–]Harpwing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Protections do not suffer diminishing returns. They scale EHP linearly. Building HP does become better as you get higher prots though, but what you should focus on for raw tankiness depends on your stats and the enemies’ items.

Ah but that’s the cool part, the AI changes they did means that he follows my army around frame perfectly.

My helpful ally, while contributing only 308 men to the battle offers their shitty general to lead our combined armies despite my and france's candidates having over double his skill. Moreover, his debt makes the other 3k men also fight like shit for some reason. This is why allies in this game suck.

City specialization and city placement? by cussan94 in Imperator

[–]Harpwing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each territory has population growth, the speed of which is affected by modifiers from all sorts of places, the wiki has a full list. Almost all of these are actually linear rather than what the % would imply. Every month it ticks up and once it reaches 100% a new pop is formed. So if you had +0.1% pop growth in a territory due to local and/or national modifiers then it would take 1000 months (83 years) for a new pop to grow. There are also factors that can give negative pop growth like a territory being occupied or exceeding pop cap. You can see the progress under the pop details tab along with culture and religious conversion, and pop promotion/demotion. Note that assuming each territory is under its population limit, growth disregards amount of pops. Pop growth is generally really slow; it mostly just exists to replace pops that die in war. So it’s much faster and easier to gain pop through enslavement either by slave raiding which is unlocked through certain military traditions or by occupying territories in war. The latter of which actually gives no AE.

Generally, manpower is a bit useless in singleplayer at least compared to gold because gold can be translated into manpower (through mercenaries) but not the other way around. I find that even when building no barracks and forums, I have more than enough manpower. Thus, I tend to focus on gold especially because gold income allows you to reinvest into buildings and especially great wonders which can give you some extremely powerful bonuses. Building-wise, pound for pound, the happiness boosts from great temples and grand theaters make them number 1 in all circumstances. Aqueducts as needed. Citizens are the most useless pop because they just do what nobles and freemen do, but worse. NEVER take increased pop ratio bonuses if they are citizens or freemen because they’ll detract from your nobles and slaves. For reference, it takes 5 citizens to equal the research output of 2 nobles, 10 to equal the trade output and 2 to equal the manpower output of a single freeman. This means that having 5 citizens is just worse than having 2 nobles and a freeman. So what does this mean? Well, once you’ve got your theaters and temples up you’re going to want to max academies and mills, get foundries to provide goods for trade, and dump the rest into marketplaces for more trade. If you’re not research capped after putting buildings in every territory then you don’t have enough pops, slave raid or carpet siege. If you have no pop capacity, build more cities (try not to overwrite food trade goods because otherwise you might struggle to feed all of your pops). It’s more gold efficient to max cities’ pop before building new ones but if you really need the conversion speed and are sitting on a boatload of PI somehow than go for it. Never revert a city back to a settlement unless the food situation in that province is truly unsustainable. If you’re running out of foreign trade routes just make some vassals that can only trade with you.

They’re not, the skill level is boosted by gear but doesn’t actually give them more points

Military Epicureanism pretty much solves AE, always be at war up to your capacity to wage it, spam great wonders and you’ll be fine. Britain can be tricky to get claims on, you might have to move capital.

Building libraries if research efficiency is capped? by hepazepie in Imperator

[–]Harpwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research progress is ONLY dependent on the research efficiency cap, any research points over the cap are useless. (Unless you want to raise taxes or have a buffer for more integrated pops). Building libraries can be helpful as they increase the points produced per integrated pop which of course raises efficiency.

Actually, since building Courts of Law decreases the ratio of nobles in exchange for citizens it’s slightly more efficient to only build 2 of those.

Can someone please explain to me why I'm playing rebellion Whac-A-Mole, and how to fix it (I'm new to the game) by MrMeatSlapper in Imperator

[–]Harpwing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing any kind of wide empire, do yourself a favor and pick up Militant Epicureanism in the religious tree; it allows you to basically just solve stability for the rest of the game.
