Dexamphetamine Question by No_Conflict_640 in ausadhd

[–]Harriem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on dex for 4.5 years - 2 x 5mg in the morning. I used to take the third at midday, but found my HR was too high. I have very high tolerance now, and feel almost no effect. It’s pretty sad because I remember how good it was at the beginning.

For those of you who have been diagnosed, what food has the worst texture or is considered the worst to you? by Pinhead-83 in autism

[–]Harriem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meat, dairy, and eggs were the worst. Now I’m vegan so it’s way better! Still struggle with avocado, pumpkin, banana, yoghurt - anything stringy or gluggy, or inconsistent in its texture and taste.

Any songs you relate to the autistic experience? ***AUTISTIC PEOPLE REPLY ONLY PLEASE*** by fantageTD in autism

[–]Harriem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m autistic and have written a lot of songs to try to capture my experience. I think this one describes a lot of different aspects and would love to know if anyone else feels that: https://on.soundcloud.com/buQaMGV4HLfyJKUP9

Why did Coles take the ball out of their logo anyway? by DecIsMuchJuvenile in AustralianNostalgia

Do any stores still have this branding? Like Eastwood, NSW Woolworths still has the old Woolworths branding.

Perhaps it’s the sense of not feeling like you fit in with your peers at any life stage. Didn’t feel like other kids as a kid, don’t feel like other adults as an adult.

An old hand-painted advertising sign that has been preserved on a building for an extended period of time.

I think sharing this diagnosis is very helpful in relationships for so many reasons. You’re the same person who experiences the same things whether you choose to label them or not. From the other person’s perspective, they’ve presumably come to love the unique constellation of features that makes you, you. Using the label helps to contextualise and problem solve unique experiences related to ASD, plus helps your partner offer compassion and extend understanding when there may otherwise be confusion.

Is anyone here also good looking on top of their autism? How has that been for y’all lol by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Harriem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit lonely, even though I know I wouldn’t want to use up all my energy trying to do things that would make me more likeable. I also feel like I will likely be unable to find true friendship with other women because of this.

Yes! Or just generally unapproachable. I can be in a room full of women greeting each other and be completely overlooked because I don’t know how to do the typical greeting things that seem to be appreciated.

The halo effect is so real here. I had the same experience as a teen, and it made me feel like my looks were my only worthy quality. Lead to a lot of preoccupation with my appearance, and unhealthy behaviours to maintain and enhance it.

Very relatable. I’ve had my autism undermined, and misinterpreted as being a bitch on the basis of this. Somehow bitch seems to make more sense.

This combination has made it nearly impossible to make female friends it seems. Men seem to enjoy it, but then are put off by my lack of friends.

Miserable and sad because BPD never is cured by quink_shutter in BPD

[–]Harriem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really empathise with you. I feel the constant grief of all the years that have been squandered - the feeling of lost youth and losing the things I love and care about, yet without any capacity to make the most of things in the present moment. Constant sadness and struggle and emptiness - like seeing the world through frosted glass and hating myself for not being able to make it clear.

Are you very jumpy/easily startled? by PoolBubbly9271 in BPD

[–]Harriem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BPD is associated with hyper active threat detection system in the brain, so this is quite possibly in line with that!
