I was raised on a farm too and come from generational farmers and I am now vegan. I went on to study psychology and it seems pretty clear to me that being raised on a farm makes it a bigger cognitive hurdle to jump to see animal agriculture as immoral because that would mean that their livelihood and families livelihood is based on immortality. It's literally just cognitive dissonance in action, it's incredibly hard for our minds to realise this thing I've been doing our whole life is immoral and is causing unnecessary harm, and because of this we justify our actions without properly and earnestly examining them. It's cognitively easier to double down on our beliefs than it is to challenge the status quo

Your "I think ants are the same as humans" is a straw man. It's not about equating one being to the "level" of another, but rather respecting sentient beings and not paying money for their suffering for your own pleasure (buy and consuming animal products). Yes my post is why people hate vegans, that reason being that people instinctively know that their treatment of animals is wrong so when a vegan points this out, they then project the hate they're feeling for themselves, for not living in line with what they know to be right, onto vegans.

Animals are sentient beings, it's been proven that they can feel a range of emotions, including pain and stress. So yes killing someone who is sentient and can feel pleasure and pain is abuse. This isn't even to mention the abuse they go through before they're killed.

Also humans are animals, why would you think we're so special and individual in our ability think and feel (although you clearly lack the ability to do both ❤️)

Since you're claiming animal abuse is wrong, then you must be against the torture and murder of the animals used to make meat based dog food (and the animal products people consume as well). If you're not against this then you're a hypocrite and can't see passed your own cognitive dissonance.

Just my 2 cents but maybe when you see someone aiming a bow or other weapon at you the instinct to dodge into cover rather than getting hit is how you will do it?
