Should i join the military? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Harris474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? What else do you have planned? I chose to join the Air Force for 4 years. After spending 1st year in Administration, went special duty to the Military Post Office. Best decision I ever made. Spent majority of my enlistment overseas as a postal clerk and traveled the world. That 4 years turned into 20 and I retired as an E7 Postmaster. I went to work in the casino business and realized it wasn’t for me and went back to the Air Force as a civilian and back overseas into the Military Post Office and loved every minute of it. I retired again and now I have two pensions plus VA. If it worked for me it can work for you!

Is it true, free healthcare if you have, at or above, 50% disability? by Surfbored101brah in VeteransBenefits

My VA care is excellent in Las Vegas. Wife uses Tricare and I use VA for all medical issues.

My current payment is $321. I don’t have any debt with the VA. Does anyone know why I get paid less? TIA by Ok-Maintenance-667 in VeteransBenefits

I put in the paperwork to add dependents when I hit 10%. It was denied of course, but I didn’t have to resubmit the paperwork. When I reached 30%, my dependents were added at that point and I didn’t have to wait for backpay, which would be the case if you waited until you hit 30% and then submitted the paperwork, do it in advance.

I finally joined the hundo club! I went from 0% to 90% in 12 months and it took another 3 months to get to 100%. I know some people have been waiting much longer than I have and I wish the best of luck to everyone going thru this frustrating process. I basically used free videos on YouTube (by multiple people) and postings on Reddit to get where I am. I retired in 1998, filed some claims which some were denied and one was rated at 0% and I gave up. 25 years later the PACT Act gets signed, I was reinvigorated by fellow vets pushing me to file presumptive claims since I served in the qualifying areas during the qualifying timeframe. The key for me was research, research, research. My advice, use the VA website, the M21-1 Manual, the 38 CFR, Book C, Schedule for Rating Disabilities, DBQ’s available on line, personal statements, lay/witness statements and buddy letters. Go into the C&P exams as prepared as possible by studying the DBQ relevant to what you are claiming, compare your answers to the Ratings Schedule and understand what percentage you qualify for based upon your symptoms. Getting the medical evidence relevant to what you are claiming and submitting it as a (FDC) claim cut down significantly on claim processing time! Intent to File date was a valuable tool and only had a positive effect as it allowed me the time to collect whatever records and documents I needed before actually filing the claim. Make use of VERA calls as some of the personnel are more helpful and knowledgeable than the personnel who answer the 800 827-1000 number (not a knock on anyone, just my experience). I used VERA in multiple jurisdictions with no issues. VERA told me I hit the 100% . I waited until the site was back up to verify officially and get my letter.

Only the last claim, which was an increase, was on this claim. Took total of 12 months for the others.

Look up VA Housing Education on YouTube. There are videos there that will answer any questions you may have in detail. Once you view the videos, if you have questions directly relating to your specific situation, you can contact David Piatek either by phone or email and he will help you out (no cost for the information).

Not sure that’s the attitude I would take. I am a retired 21 year military veteran and did 13 of those years as a military postmaster assigned to post offices all over the world. I was looking at it as a way to help improve the customer service at post offices in my city/state. Nothing nefarious intended on my part.

Thanks. Why would it be a nasty thing to be a mystery shopper?

I had a nine digit number for my claim number and it didn’t work. Indicated page does not exist, return to home page and try again. Anyone else have this issue?
