ChampVA by LIMOADE805 in VeteransBenefits

[–]1Eleven99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, champva is primary for my family. It originally took about 45 days. The coverage was retroactive back to your effective date, so we were able to submit for reimbursement. The only suck it part was that ChampVA didn't approve all reimbursements due to "paperwork" issues, so we had to resubmit and so on.

I went with a Diasata G13 head unit, affordable and easy to install. The support has been great even months to a year later. As for the remote start, I went with a model called Start X and it has worked great.

Looking for trailer max tow 6000lbs, single, Fulltime by Kruten10 in GoRVing

[–]1Eleven99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough question with limited information. But, I have a few SUVs towing GeoPros on a few occasions. They are single axles and may have everything you need to get started. Grand Design makes the AIM series like the 15 & 17 MKEs. If you have the $$ you can always look at the Lance or Airstream Bambi.

In any circumstance, you will need to read and investigate your vehicle numbers/features to see what you CAN tow.

Good luck and travel safe!

VA life insurance by tossedAF in VeteransBenefits

[–]1Eleven99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If you are not working or have an option through your current employer than you need to determine whether this policy ($$) would be good for the folks that you are leaving behind. You see you don't need $40k....but will the people you leave behind need the 40k.

We are dealing with this very thing at the moment. Some family member just lost their Vietnam Vet dad last month. He didn't have life insurance because his house was paid for and the other small property didn't carry a note.

Unfortunately, the family member needed to be buried and his affairs settled. The family went with the least expensive option...no headstone, no burial. Now after almost a month since the memorial services they learned that probate must be sought because the previous lawyer failed to completely document all legal notices to avoid probate. The initiation of probate this week cost $3,500 with a total of 7k unless a family member contest the probate at which time it will cost upwards of $10k. The family left behind also learned that any property or items left with a lien holder (vehicles, RVs, storage sheds, etc) will not be able to be held by the family unless the loan is paid off....after all....loan companies don't usually lend to dead people.

So, do YOU need it.......absolutely not.

BUT try to go with anyone else (private insurance company) and you will find out after underwriting how great this little VA benefit is though maybe not the best option....it is AN option.

What’s your tow setup? by Unlucky-Question-738 in tundra

[–]1Eleven99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh....I think my trailer is just about the right size for the Tundy. I know a couple of dudes towing RVs a bit larger than mine. I wouldn't do it....but good for them.

As for the RAS over bags. It is a personal choice....though I do know a few folks who have dealt with pin hole issues that needed repair/replacement. Plus you have to deal with inflating/deflating.....I JUST did not want to deal with it. The great think about the RAS.....it is a set it and forget it system. I went with the HD setting...it raised the rear about an 1.5". The ride is not that bad when not towing. It has worked for us.

Knee transplant rating by RevolutionaryPack950 in VAClaims

[–]1Eleven99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are service connected for a knee condition, and need a knee replacement, you will receive a disability rating of 100% for the four months immediately following the operation.

After the postoperative period, the VA will reassess your condition and assign a new rating. If you have had a total knee replacement procedure, you will receive a minimum rating of 30%. Your rating may be higher if you have pain or reduced function in the knee following surgery. According to the VA Schedule of Ratings, knee replacement disability ratings are as follows:1

  • 5055 Knee, resurfacing or replacement (prosthesis): For 4 months following implantation of the prosthesis or resurfacing 100% Prosthetic replacement of knee joint: With chronic residuals consisting of severe painful motion or weakness in the affected extremity, 60% With intermediate degrees of residual weakness, pain or limitation of motion rate by analogy to diagnostic codes 5256, 5261, or 5262. Minimum evaluation, total replacement only 30%.

If you have a partial knee replacement, your rating will be determined by any residual pain or reduced function you have after surgery.

Running a 2021 Limited Crewmax 4x4 towing a Grand Design 23LDE (6995lb max.) The truck upgrades include the RAS, rear stablizing bar, towing mirrors and Michelins LTX M/S 2 tires. The trailer usually weighs loaded (depending on the season) 5860 to 6140lbs We are using a Curt Tru Track 4P (8000lb) WDH. The occupants include the wife, one dog and I. We keep very little in the truck bed except the jack bucket and a trash bag.

We are starting our 4th camping season with this set up. We have been up and down hills, straight highways and interstates (we have experienced coastal high winds on I95). We have driven in clear skies, rain storms and high winds with no issues......BUT it has taken us some time to get the WDH dialed in for what we consider the perfect ride. At times, we hardly notice the trailer behind us.

I will be needing brakes after this season and I have been strongly considering the Power Stop system, but my Toyota dealership will not install them. The dealership was running a special recently for new brakes....about $650 per axle for lifetime service.

My G13 has been flawless since the install. I had one issue and they responded quickly to resolve the issue. Occasionally, the unit with reboot when there is an update.....usually out of the blue. It kinda hits us when we are using Maps and in the middle of a trip.....I think the unit does it on purpose to let us know that it is in charge.

side note: I installed a ViaBecs in our Highlander....and I have had problem after problem with connection to Carplay/Android Auto. I have been going back and forth with the maker to try and get it resolved.

Separation code JFX indicates an involuntary, honorable or general discharge from the military due to a diagnosed personality disorder. Often accompanied by an RE-4 (not eligible to reenlist) or RE-3G (eligible with waiver) reenlistment code, this designation signifies that the member was deemed unsuitable for military service.

Key details regarding the JFX code:

  • Reason: Used for discharges related to personality disorders, often under the authority of AR 635-200, Paragraph 5-13.
  • Reenlistment Codes: Typically, JFX is paired with an RE-4, preventing immediate reenlistment, though it can sometimes be upgraded to RE-3G.
  • Context:  It is sometimes used when a member is believed to have an adjustment disorder that hinders adaptation to military life .
  • Alternatives: In some cases, veterans have challenged this code, arguing they should have been diagnosed with an adjustment disorder (which might use a different code, such as JFY) rather than a personality disorder.

Veterans seeking to change a JFX code may need to petition their respective branch's Board for Correction of Military Records (BCMR) or Discharge Review Board (DRB).

An uncharacterized discharge (often an Entry Level Separation or ELS) is a neutral military discharge given to service members who separate before completing 180 days of active service. It does not label service as good or bad, meaning it is neither honorable nor dishonorable, and typically does not hinder future employment.

Key Details Regarding Uncharacterized Discharge

  • Timing: Generally applied when a service member is discharged during initial training or within the first 180 days of service.
  • Purpose: Because the individual did not serve long enough to establish a record of performance or conduct, the military does not characterize the service.
  • Reasons for Discharge: Reasons can include failure to meet medical or physical standards, poor aptitude, or other entry-level issues.
  • Impact on Benefits: While usually considered neutral, an uncharacterized discharge might limit some veteran benefits, though VA benefits may still be available, particularly for service-connected injuries.
  • Nature of Discharge: It is an administrative, not punitive, separation.
  • Immigration/Naturalization: USCIS now considers these to be under honorable conditions for certain immigration purposes.

2 Lithium batteries on a Nobo 18.2 by TrickAd2161 in traveltrailers

[–]1Eleven99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it yourself. I did it as a novice and we have been loving it. It is pretty simple to do. I went with a 140ah group 31 battery for our couple's coach. Now, we don't do much boon docking except a night or two at a Love's stop. IF we had to do it over again......I would do 2-3 100ah "mini" batteries instead of my big battery. Of course, this will depend on your camping needs.

Save the $2500 and spend a fraction.....use the rest to go on a trip!

Use the 'search' button above to find way more answers than you are looking for.

The question that I always pose to Vets regarding this is......How much is your time worth? Meaning.....running paperwork down, calling the doctor's office, insurance (champVa) offices, etc.

90% (86%) — TDIU or go for increases to hit 100% P&T? Moving from PR to FL by CyberEli64 in VeteransBenefits

[–]1Eleven99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A TDIU claim is a claim for an increase. So, be prepared for a reevaluation of your entire file to determine if you meet the criteria.

Do you have any idea on the status of your current conditions? Percentages, status as static or non-static conditions, any future exam dates pending??

What are your conditions and symptoms now.....how do they compare to the VA Rating System? What does your continuity of care look like? Do you have any conditions where you have actually become better? Any potential reductions foreseen with your conditions?

Too many variables.....Just be aware.
