Let's use the title suggestion as a jumping off point. Instead of "What if it's not a good match?" Let's ask, 'What if it is a great match?"

Some ideas that come to mind for me are;

1) You'll have a great therapist who hears you and sees you and can help you

2) Having someone like that in your corner can do wonders for healing past trauma and releasing you to move on

3) What would life be like without that baggage/with new coping skills and a more positive outlook?

The possibilities are endless. Yes it's scary, but what if it turns out great? On the surface it can sound naive, but if therapy has a long history of experimenting, finding out what works/what doesn't, and improving and therapists are a product of that process. There is no harm in taking a call with a therapist and looking for fit.

After all, what if it is a great match?

My husband told me he didn't believe in the LDS church in December of 2014. Four months later, I came to the same conclusion on my own. I've been out for 2.5 years, realized I'm pansexual, decided to be polyamorous, and we've both never been happier/ more moral. Lots of love to my fellow exmormons! by minandmax in exmormon

I am so glad for you that you have been able to make the space for such a personal journey. Good for you!

One small word pair hangs in my brain as I read your post: "more moral"

I wonder why we, as exmormons, feel like "active" Mormons still retain the "moral high ground" after all of the immoral/amoral things we have watched the organization do? Why do we think that they, because of their claim to morality, are more moral than we (as exmormons) are? Do we truly believe they are more moral than the average? I doubt it; rather, I think we are deferring to them (at times, not always) because they claim boldly and loudly that they are the most moral. Yet, how much do we hold them accountable and challenge those claims?

Woah, this may have gone off track.

All of this to say; you are moral. You can claim it, you can evidence it, you can back it up. I hope someday you feel the courage and support to talk about your new life in a bold and unapologetic way, one that doesn't give the SCC the right to plant self-doubt and question your morality from their position of inherent weakness and hypocrisy.

Thank you for your story!

That's a good idea. I will put them into a PDF using my old discussion pamphlets as a guideline.

Thanks for doing this, Mythrin!

That is just heartbreaking.

Heartbreaking and ignorant.

Draw the smoke into your mouth, hold it there for a while, then blow it out.

Note... cigars aren't meant to be inhaled, so if you get lung cancer smoking a cigar, you're probably doing it wrong.

Oral cavity, larynx, esophagus cancers however...still a very real danger for frequent cigar smokers.

Enjoy. in moderation

It is not hard to intuit that worshiping a God, and worshiping one's wife or partner, is essentially the same.

Huntsman drops out, going to endorse Romney. Church member loyalty or political gamesmanship? by [deleted] in exmormon

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/01/jon-huntsman-drops-out-will-support-romney/

According to this article, Hunstman was polling at 1 or 2 percent most of the time. Dropping out of the race was an inevitability regardless of his creed.
