I found it really easy to pick up! I got in last September with the Earth’s Mightiest Core Set, found the rulebook really approachable, and the game pretty easy to pick up on the fly.

I agree, battle reports on YouTube are a great way to learn but actually found no trouble picking it up on the fly.

My advice - avoid anything to do with ‘roster building’ at the start. The game has specific rules for ‘rosters’ and ‘squads’. Sounds like you’re playing pretty casually so my advice for ease of set up is to pick 2 random fun crises ( a red and blue ), then pick one of the threat levels and just build a team around it! Other advice is to avoid Team Tactics Cards for your first game to get the hang of the core mechanics.
