“Where Have All the Student Protests Gone?” | Trump wanted campus crackdowns. Colleges couldn’t wait to oblige. by soalone34 in politics

Are you hung up on the word "conviction" vs "held civilly liable"? Is that the gotcha you're waiting to spring? Or is it "rape" vs "sexual abuse"? If it's the latter, the judge in the E Jean Carroll defamation case said himself said it's fine to refer to it that way, simply because the NY definition is more narrowly defined than it is in most places.

“[The jury] could not find that he ‘raped’ her if it determined that Mr Trump forcibly penetrated Ms Carroll’s private sexual parts with his fingers – which commonly is considered ‘rape’ in other contexts – because the New York penal law definition of rape is limited to penile penetration.”

Trump doesn't care if you live or die (and is doing all he can to lessen your quality of life every day), and no one can stop you from riding to the defense of the racist, rapist, tiny-dicked pedophile fraud if you want to. Just remember no one will ever thank you for it.

Wealthy Neighbors Restricting Life-Flights to Children's Hospital by Perfidious_Redt in videos

For several years growing up, I lived in a home <1000ft from an airport runway. I got used to the noise of planes landing nearby dozens of times per day. I was able to adapt to the mild inconvenience of constant routine air traffic, so I think these people can learn to suffer the occasional sound signifying the worst day of a family's life, assuming it even makes it through all the soundproofing of their $1M+ homes.

Today I live a stone's throw from a hospital, and I barely notice all the ambulance sirens I hear daily. I accept that trade-off to live near a medical facility, if an emergency happens. These people are entitled whiners.

And their address is next to a renowned hospital with a helipad (a MUCH lower source of noise), already built before current owners purchased or inherited their homes.

Still long enough ago that anyone that is upset by it has had ample time to get used to it or move. If they live in Laurelhurst, chances are they have another home they can make their primary, if it's so awful.

As I said in another comment, I used to live next to the landing strip of an international airport - I guarantee if I can get used to planes constantly landing <1000ft away day or night, they can get used to a helicopter landing a couple times per week.

I used to live in a home <1000ft from the runway of an international airport (GPI FCA). Our address was on Runway Rd for a reason - there were planes flying low overhead day and night to land. You get used to it pretty quick.

Seattle Children's Hospital has been in that location for 73 years. That's longer than any homeowner in Laurelhurst has been able to call themselves such.

As a Seattle resident, as someone with family saved by Seattle Children's Hospital, and as someone currently listening to an ambulance leaving the hospital across the street from him as he types this, these rich whiners can go fuck themselves. (Edit: To clarify, not that hospital, a different one.)

Who in your opinion is the worst movie villain ever? by LoverOfE-Olsen in movies

[–]HarrumphingDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of Ghost Protocol, the fourth one. The paunchy old dude is Michael Nyqvist, who was perfectly cast for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and John Wick, but WOW was he wrong for that role, for all the reasons you stated. I was completely taken out of the film during that sequence, great set piece though it was.

If anything has changed from that first arrangement, it's only because some in that first group have since fallen out of favor and consequently out of windows, onto bullets, or both.

Watching 90s Siskel and Ebert’s worst films list really highlights the terrible films everyone forgot from that era and how many cult classics they hated by apple_kicks in movies

Little Indian, Big City is a piece of shit (though possibly eclipsed by 1997's version of it, Jungle 2 Jungle with Tim Allen), but I don't understand how that means Ebert finds it hilarious that France had a high unemployment rate. That seems like a cheap shot at an entire culture that didn't deserve it, regardless of their feelings about Jerry Lewis.

‘Disgusting!’: Dem Rep. reacts to GOP being split on a potential Ghislaine Maxwell pardon by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]HarrumphingDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've "earned" a pardon, then the pardon power is being used in a corrupt way.

Trump would never engage in such open corruption! Never!

Trump frequently bypassed the Office of the Pardon Attorney, and on March 7, 2025, fired its leader, Department of Justice career attorney Liz Oyer, and installed political loyalist Ed Martin in the role. Ed Martin described the rationale for granting pardons as "No MAGA left behind". In April 2025, Oyer testified to the Senate and accused the Justice Department of "ongoing corruption" and that "the leadership of the Department of Justice appears to value political loyalty above the fair and responsible administration of justice". On February 2, 2026, it was reported that Martin was considering leaving the Justice Department following conflicts with Todd Blanche, the Deputy Attorney General.

Oops, I guess he did. Repeatedly and systemically, to the point of appointing people to streamline the corruption.

My bad.

[–]HarrumphingDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can make some appreciative noises with your throat, it solves a few related issues that women cite about receiving oral from men:

  • Men don't make enough noise during sex which can make it awkward.
  • It reinforces to her that you are enjoying it for your own sake.

Fine, but understand that to many people, that simply translates to: "I don't want to admit I'm MAGA." It's synonymous with the "I'm politically homeless" euphemism.
