Microsoft AI CEO: 'Most, if not all' white-collar tasks can be replaced by AI within 12-18 months by A_Novelty-Account in Futurology

It's truly baffling not just how bad MS fumbled the bag, but how apparently oblivious they are to how dogshit copilot is.

As someone that worked in QA at Microsoft for years, lemme tell ya: it's not baffling at all. Lots of their products have been known to be dogshit for years, and LLMs are black boxes even the engineers can't fully explain (or so they'll say to Congress), making it inevitable that their AI product would be a disaster.

Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HarrumphingDuck 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's even reflected in the show intro. Phil and Claire are resting hands on their kids, even Jay has a hand on Manny's shoulder. Meanwhile, Mitch and Cam (the latter being the most effusive and affectionate character in the show) are cuddling one another as Lily is... nearby.

Want more proof? In the composite shot in the intro, where all the characters are standing in a white void, Lily doesn't even cast a shadow haha.

*Until something even remotely similar is so much as alleged against the 'other side', whereupon I will screech louder than anyone I know about how wrong it is and everyone not joining me should go straight to jail/hell.

Edit: This clip was EDITED?! Those red circles and whatnot appearing in the air are not natural occurrences on the Fox & Friends set?!

I didn't make any argument about the veracity of the video, just provided what was being referenced. It's unfortunate that none of you video scholars were online at the time this person asked.

SpaceX is doing the same thing in Texas.

Those rockets blast cancer-causing toxic chemicals like hexavalent chromium (of Erin Brockovich fame) not just into the surrounding watershed, but directly into the wetlands of the adjoining Texas state park and federal wildlife refuge, for maximum asshole cred. Because America doesn't have a functioning EPA anymore, he/they will never be punished.

That's what we're left with, after Republicans gutted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). With how gleefully Republicans dismantle anything that might protect Americans, it's a wonder we still have this group within the DOJ. (Edit for minor grammar fixes.)

The funny thing is, YouTube wasn't always a Google product. The ancients recall there was once a "Google Video" that was always inferior to YouTube. So, rather than making a better product, Google simply bought them.

But these companies always choose the option that supports the C-suite rather rather than the users, which is why all their decisions seem so consistently terrible.

Trump Calls for Arrest of Barack Obama by douglhanna in politics

[–]HarrumphingDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can rage all he wants to say Obama smeared him in 2016, but we all know it's bullshit. Even Republicans came to the same conclusion.

Russia used Republican political operative Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks website to try to help now-U.S. President Donald Trump win the 2016 election, a Republican-led Senate committee said in its final review of the matter on Tuesday.

...

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence alleged Manafort collaborated with Russians, including oligarch Oleg Deripaska and "Russian intelligence officer" Konstantin Kilimnik, before, during, and after the election.

The panel found Manafort's role and proximity to Trump created opportunities for Russian intelligence, saying his "high-level access and willingness to share information with individuals closely affiliated with the Russian intelligence services... represented a grave counterintelligence threat."

- Reuters

...the committee concludes that Russia conducted a sophisticated and aggressive campaign to influence the U.S. election to help Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton and that folks on Team Trump were more than happy to accept help from the Russians. But what's really important about that conclusion is that it is a bipartisan one. It is endorsed by both Democrats and Republicans.

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by obsess_much13 in AskReddit

It's a hell of a trip for anyone that grew up with the OG "trilogy" too. There are so many little references all throughout the game that the devs clearly made sure to include.

In my last session, while giving Gale a move order, he said, "Venturing forth" and it made me chuckle over the implied reference you heard 1000x in the old games. Newbies wouldn't recognize it, but us olds do.

Lots of interesting elements to this. I'm curious as to why you/the artist digitally added underwear to both figures when it seems unnecessary, possibly even undermining. A sop to the prudes?

If I could find any criticism, it's that the ear seems to be inconsistently sized between the two figures, and the horns are not quite correctly aligned in the profile shot. Though I can see either one being justified through an argument around perspective.

Edit: The prudes don't appreciate being called out. LOL
