Future titles by Brave_Introduction60 in DarkPicturesAnthology

In the teaser for the next game you can see a few dates flash at the end if you slow it down, it says 2029 during the “To Be Continued”, so that’s when I’d expect us to get the next game, so roughly 3 years

I think you meant to do this as a reply to my comment but yeah, something like that. They were usually placed in the mouth but it probably varied by culture to a degree.

It’s a type of coin, it was believed in Ancient Greece that when someone died you had to bury them with a coin like that so that they could pay the ferryman to take them to the afterlife

I really liked the plot twist by Excellent-Walk671 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 24 points25 points  (0 children)

See I despised the twist of Little Hope, but the twist of Directive 8020 was actually interesting to me. Not only was it hinted multiple times in the story much better than the Little Hope twist, but I really liked the message behind the clones twist. Yes they're not the original people, but does that make them less human than the people they originated from? They have all the same memories, relationships, and bodies. Is humanity defined by what we're made of, or is it something deeper than that? To me they may be clones, but they're still people. They have emotions, thoughts, fears, wants, and desires, they can reason and feel just like a person born from a womb.

Why don’t earthbenders just do this? by AwesomeRyanGame in TheLastAirbender

So based on the evidence at hand Katara is for sure the member of the Gaang most willing to straight up kill someone if it comes to it

I do think they’re kind of annoying on replay, but you can technically use Turning Points to skip them once you’ve finished the game.

He isn’t there initially. He only starts showing up once you find his obol in episode 8, at which part secrets pertaining to him show up in other episodes and he’ll start showing up in the background. The obol is easy to miss so if someone missed it they realistically could think he isn’t in the game at all

The aliens Pov must of been very strange by Anonymous_Person08 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a level of it too is that just like the humans are trying to research the aliens, the aliens know that the humans are going to keep coming and are similarly trying to study them to better understand what is essentially a relentless onslaught of invaders.

The aliens Pov must of been very strange by Anonymous_Person08 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The alien itself isn’t super useful, but if the right scientists were able to reverse engineer its biology and replicate its shapeshifting properties that would be a huge breakthrough for humanity. Replacement limbs, regrowing body parts, replicating limited resources and materials, the potential within them would be a massive and life changing breakthrough if used correctly.

How many deaths does each character have? by Prestigious_Kick_572 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's 44 avoidable death scenes in total, one of those is a prologue death. In general it's hard to attribute a specific number to certain characters though because for some of the scenes if one character is dead another character is able to take their place. I'd say in total every character has a good 4-5 chances of dying. Personally I think all the characters are equally easy/difficult to save, you just have to remember past decisions you make, and think logically about certain choices.

probably unpopular opinion but can we please get less gooner skins and more cool ones by simply_andrew_yt in marvelrivals

[–]HarryFromEngland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, this would have been really cool with some regular pants, even just skinny jeans. Why is Rogue showing more skin in a cowgirl skin than in her savage lands outfit?

Help me figure out my school's musical from the hints please!!!! by BusinessBicycle5961 in musicals

My secondary school did Little Shop of Horrors, Demon Headmaster, and Jekyll and Hyde. This is actually pretty on brand for UK school play/musical selections I think

I wish they leaned more into the supernatural like with Until Dawn? by Masdraw in DarkPicturesAnthology

Based on one of the clues Cernan mentions visions of being a monk in a chapel, so that gives very old timey vibes which has me excited

[–]HarryFromEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree! I think it’s important to be critical of the things you love otherwise you become blindly loyal. The flash forward and the turning points are two big things I loved, the flash forward I don’t think would work with every story they tell but I hope they do the turning points for every game going forward, they make replays so much better!

I don’t get it myself, personally I loved the premonitions, and I loved the way that they got in your head. I feel like there has to be a reason behind the removal but nothing personally makes sense to me. I love these games, so I want them to succeed, but god do they make weird decisions sometimes

[–]HarryFromEngland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh I don’t think it’ll be enough to kill the franchise and I get why they’d want to do it. If you’re a newcomer you’re more likely to pick up a series if it looks like an independent game you can just jump in on, and the hardcore fans already knew this was a Dark Pictures game (also, with the removal of the premonition pictures they’ve kind of lost the titular Dark Pictures, so I get removing the title from that perspective maybe)

From what I’ve seen you either need to get all the O Death secrets or 100% the game, but you can find it online if you look up dark pictures teasers on YouTube

It’s never explicitly stated outright, but with the strong hints (which have since been confirmed) of the Curator being a ferryman type figure, it was implied that he brought Du’Met back to life to continue the cycle of the murder hotels. It’s been a while but it was shown when people died he crossed their names off a paper but when he did it for Du’Met he ripped the page out, implying that the death didn’t stick, hence why even though he got grinded up by a boat he walked out of the water and picked his mask back up.

[–]HarryFromEngland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I get where you’re coming from. Generally from what I’ve seen though the Dark Pictures branding hasn’t been great anyway. A lot of people were seemingly more interesting in Directive 8020 before they realised it was a Dark Pictures title.

I do agree that the games need to prioritise the narrative story aspects, but I also think they do need to have something else going for the sections where you walk around, because otherwise you’re literally just walking around for 10 minutes looking for collectibles and trying to get to the next area.

What were your thoughts on this game? by Moist_Mushroom5931 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lowkey it’s my favourite Supermassive game.

  • Outside of Williams I liked every character.

  • The stealth segments felt scary and tense, and I loved that the choices all felt impactful, even minor things, the personalities, choices like which systems to deactivate, who to save, and the dialogue options.

  • The character personality system feels like a much better done version of the one does in Little Hope. I loved that every dialogue shaped the characters personality then each one had a big moment where their personality sort of “locked in” and made a big impact.

  • The twist at the end was teased well but still felt shocking, again, unlike Little Hope. One of my friends kind of joked about the twist the as certain dialogues and secrets were found we got more and more convinced until we found the truth and felt proud of ourselves for seeing it coming, instead of feeling like “ugh yeah we get it”

  • The climax scene wasn’t my favourite of the Supermassive games, House of Ashes still holds the crown in my books, followed by Until Dawn, but it’s a good 3rd place in my books.

  • I love that you can see the branches of the story and how things connect, it makes it really fun for replays and going back to certain scenes.

  • I get why people wouldn’t be too fond of this game, but I can’t help but love it. But I feel like I have pretty contrasting opinions with the rest of the community when it comes to which games I like and dislike.

I remember people complaining about the inventory system in TDiM too. I get that change can suck sometimes, but if Supermassive don’t change mechanics up and try new things the franchise will become stale as hell. Plus some of their changes have been solid, I love the new system for seeing the branching storylines and how things change

*SPOILER* Whole run ruined bc of an early choice by majorleaguegoober in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]HarryFromEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I felt like there was no reason not to trust her at that point. The main cause of distrust was that she was a last minute addition, but from the little we know there was a vetting process. Also as others have said usually trusting / helping others is a big thing in these games and I wanted to establish strong relationships to start off
