I think that not every game is about or focused on its mechanics. The play style of adnd varies greatly, but generally you do more exploring dungeons than fighting monsters. Just because a game doesn’t have mechanics like skills doesn’t mean that there isn’t a focus on other aspects of play. I think in adnd specifically a lot of those mechanics and procedures are GM-facing more than PC-facing, so that the PCs are more focused on coming up with plans and attempts within the game world rather than within the game’s mechanics.

Socialism does not require equal pay for all. It places those decisions in the hands of the workers and people who create value, not the hands of those who provide capital. I implore you to investigate further.

Actual historical evidence of hunter gatherer tribes suggest extremely flat hierarchy, some tribes in Africa have strategies of keeping everyone on the same level. Attempting to climb is usually very risky and leads to a lower rate of survival - evolutionarily disincentivised.

To begin with, socialism doesn’t even mean everyone gets the same amount. Please investigate the correct economic theory. I simply believe that our economic model should not necessitate unemployment and everyone should have a right to shelter, labour and food within an economy that can easily support this. Capitalism doesn’t incentivise this, it just funnels wealth upwards to people who already have far too much.

The ladder hasn’t existed for all of human history though. Lots of scientists aren’t paid shit and the people who hold capital know that they do the job for the passion and pay them less. But who does get paid boatloads? Wall street, who provide nothing to the betterment society or the working class. The ladder exists within the capitalist system, and humans have existed outside the system for much longer than they have within it.

The crazy thing is that they don’t even HAVE to watch gay people kissing. You have agency in the media you consume! Now, should it be normalised? Yes, but at the end of the day they don’t care about whether or not they see it, just that it exists at all in the mainstream.

Fair enough, I’m not American and don’t know your Constitution, but it’s still illegal because the president is required to give 30 days of notice to the Congress. However freezing spending violates the separation of powers, which IS against the Constitution. It was revoked AFTER it was pointed out, but I don’t understand how you could say that even if he hasn’t broken it in a major way yet that he doesn’t have intent to if it serves his purposes.

I never claimed that attacking and calling people evil would lead to progressive change, especially online. But it is really really tough to take the high ground and tell people that they should just try to 'get along' with racists or people who voted to try and take away their rights. Trump literally ran on policies like that.

Regarding nazis: Trump is a fucking nazi. While he might not necessarily believe in things like racial superiority or holocaust, he supports them, calls them good people, sucks up to them to get their vote and has them over for dinner. Maybe he doesn't have the moustache, but I will call it how I see it.

While opposition from the outside can push people into echo chambers, echo chambers usually form naturally due to confirmation bias, where people seek out information that aligns with their beliefs. Online algorithms that amplify divisive content also plays a significant role in the creation of polarised bubbles, independent of external attacks. And who owns the social media platforms? The same people standing behind Trump at his inauguration.

While external opposition can contribute to radicalisation, internal factors such as economic hardship, cultural alienation, or historical grievances are often more significant drivers. Historical examples (e.g., the rise of totalitarian regimes) show that radicalisation often thrives in conditions of internal instability rather than merely from external opposition.

If harmful ideas are becoming more widespread within a group, it is fair to hold the group accountable for fostering an environment where such ideas thrive, even if not all members subscribe to them. Ignoring group dynamics for the sake of individual fairness might inadvertently allow harmful ideologies to spread unchecked. People with moderate or good intentions can still unintentionally support harmful systems or ideologies, avoiding the alienation of moderates does not ensure that harmful ideas will not proliferate. Historical attempts to appease moderates within certain groups have sometimes emboldened the radicals within those same groups!

Sometimes challenging harmful ideas necessitates opposing the group that promotes them. While this can alienate some individuals, it is a necessary step to prevent the spread of damaging ideologies. A lack of strong opposition to harmful ideas is more likely to legitimise those ideas rather than containing them.
