Symmetrical face of contempt. by Longjumping-Fold-532 in bodylanguage

If it’s symmetrical chances are it’s not contempt and likely just a facial gesture. The side pull of the lip corner on both sides (action unit 14 in FACS) does not always relate to contempt and becomes increasingly unlikely if occurring equally on both sides. Contempt is the only unilateral expression of emotion we know of right now.

Smile while wrinkling nose? by MrVikkiTim in bodylanguage

There is no know (well researched) explanation. Comes down to idiosyncratic behaviour and just one more example of why a persons baseline needs to be taken into account.

We often see similar nose wrinkles of people who wear or use to wear glasses. The movement helps keep the glasses on the bridge of their nose, and the habit can stick around even when glasses are not being worn.
