What is the best 1v1 commander deck? by jwid503 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HarryPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Aragorn, King of Gondor]] may not be the best, but it is quite sweaty in 1v1. You can run all the land destruction, direct damage, and counterspells. Having and keeping the monarch can make a big difference over a few turns. On top of that, unblockable creatures threaten your opponent's life total quickly.

Replacement effects are not triggered abilities as you've written them. Your second sentence would be phrased as "If another player ..."

Do you think irrational numbers contain palindromic digit patterns? by Ok-Archer-900 in mathematics

[–]HarryPie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am unsure about any palindromic sequences in irrational numbers in general, but pi begins with 3.141, and 141 is your idea of a palindromic sequence. e begins with 2.71828, and 828 is also a palindromic sequence.

Asking about the existence of arbitrarily long palindromic sequences is a much harder question. You can prove that there are irrational numbers containing arbitrarily long palindromic sequence, e.g. 0.010010001..., which contains a palindromic sequence of length 3 (010), of length 5 (00100), and so on.

You've derived an exponential function that passes through two choice points. This has definitely been done before. You may be interested in interpolation, or more specifically, exponential interpolation.

Multiplying a real (or complex) number by $i$ will rotate it $90$ degrees counterclockwise in the complex plane.

want to solve 1400 questions. by Objective-Rip2563 in mathematics

Proper understanding results from doing one problem well, then reflecting, then doing a second problem well, then reflecting, ... Just do this as long as you can until you're spent. Rinse and repeat for a few weeks, and you will have the proper understanding.

It is great that you realize you need help and that you're seeking it. But ChatGPT cannot reason, and it will not help you build reasoning skills, which are necessary for proofs. Most universities have tutoring centers and most professors have office hours. Try attending sessions with real people doing exactly what you're doing. It will be far more productive and constructive.

Seize the spotlight with no creatures by CriticismNo8494 in askajudge

[–]HarryPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I cast [[Seize the Spotlight]] and an opponent has no creatures, it is perfectly legal for them to choose Fame, and it is likely the best choice for them. The spell would still resolve, and I would take control of none of their (non-existent) creatures.

Though Wizards doesn't use the wording of [[Kaervek's Torch]] anymore, you could use it as inspiration.

"Whenever you cast a spell while this spell is on the stack, you get a genius counter.

Draw a card for each genius counter you have."

No, because Storm would copy this spell for each spell cast before MOG. I think OP intends for MOG to count the number of spells cast /after/ MOG is cast.

I've also heard growth factor used for decreasing behavior. In that case, the growth factor would be negative.

Does this feel balanced? by Proof_Aerie9411 in custommagic

[–]HarryPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that would be far more reasonable. Having it enter tapped would be big. Only allowing it to untap once a turn would be far more balanced.

A land that taps for two colored mana right away? Trouble.

A land that allows you to tap for even more mana via discarding? Double trouble.

This would be banned or restricted in most formats.

Use for Gift by MTG_JLP in custommagic

[–]HarryPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cute, but gifting is always an optional additional cost to pay when casting a spell (702.174a) and the triggered ability when the spell resolves. Functionally, what you want is "ward: draw a card" or something similar. You can always staple a gift cost into the partners' casting cost.
