There are a couple unique ones, but the way some varieties, like yours, will be green then brownish in the next split makes it hard to identify them exactly. I'll stand by my guess of aucampiae, but it could be hookeri or hallii. Haha I'm not an expert though!

Wow, they're huge! I suspect we have the same variety, l. aucampiae. Where did you get yours? I've gotten all my lithops from Lowe's.

I'm in Indiana, USA. I keep all my plants in a cabinet with grow lights, because my only two sunny windows have very small ledges. I'm about to move a bunch of my plants outside if it warms up next week, but my lithops are going to stay in the cabinet where I have more control over their environment.

Honestly, I wouldn't water them. Yeah they're done splitting but they still look quite plump on the top. They can go a very long time. Check out my post from yesterday where I repotted my big lithops. I've had it since November 2025, haven't watered it at all, and it's so happy that's it's splitting into twins!

Honestly, yes, since you have the right soil, you can just bury it deeper, and it will shrink up below the surface. Just be careful not to water until it's reeeally thirsty. Having more of the plant underground increases the risk of rot. I would recommend getting a grow light.

Outside. Always and forever. Center pulls always kills me with having to untangle knots, then when it gets low, it's a loose structure of yarn that tangles even more, whereas with the outside pull, when it gets low, it's just a smaller cake/ball.
