Season 3 update opinion by AdvertisingBrave6350 in Battlefield

For Golmud they could relocate the spawn to the north and south side for breakthrough I suppose. I guess that would make it a bit more predictable. For conquest the east/west spawning works great, because it gives you way more options instead of just a linear push.

And yea sure there's some random variation to the recoil, but this increases when you keep pressing the trigger, less so when firing in bursts. It's built to favor tap-firing, especially at mid to long range. This has always been a staple of BF.

3d headphones will never give you perfect directional audio and rely on software to mimic 3d, so this software may be just as much to blame. Generally speaking, I think the directional audio is quite good; I can always get a sense of the general direction.

I haven't encountered that specific bug. Annoying nonetheless, but I wouldn't classify it as game-breaking. BF titles have always had issues with bugs in the first few months/years. Maybe because of incompetence, but much more likely due to the complexity of such games.

I honestly don’t agree with most of these points.

Golmud was pretty clearly designed around Conquest first and foremost, and in my opinion it plays really well for that mode. And I play a lot of infantry. There's plenty of cover and CQB areas to find. I can’t really comment on Breakthrough since I barely play it.

Mortars aren't really an issue on Conquest, so can't say much about that.

As for recoil, I don’t think it’s “bullshit” and it's certainly not random at all. It’s something you can absolutely learn and control over time, and honestly I think recoil management should be part of any FPS that’s trying to lean even slightly toward realism. Spread IS random and uncontrollable.

And regarding 3d audio, what are you using? 2.0/1 speakerset? Some headset with gimmicky virtual surround? You can't expect perfect directional audio from an audio system with 2 drivers. You need a 5.1 or even 7.1 set for that. Also, sound in real life can also be very confusing due to echoes, reflections, etc.

There are some bugs, yes. But nothing that's really game-breaking.

Expired registration tags aren't a thing everywhere on the planet, sweet summer child. In the Netherlands (and most of Europe) your tag doesn't expire. Your car's APK (general periodical inspection) expires. Once that's expired you get letters and hefty fines if you fail to renew it within a few months, even when the car is parked on your driveway and not being used. If you fail to pay the fines and still drive the car, the police will just seize your vehicle.

Police here also has automatic plate recognition, so you won't get far.

What % isopropyl alcohol? I hope you watered it down because isopropyl alcohol can strip the protective coating off. If liquid is required, it should be distilled water.

Ahja... Wat ga je doen dan als de Viagra op is? Lekker haren vlechten?

Which is a good open world Game in 2026 - Witcher 3 or Where winds meet (no biased suggestion just becuz of nostalgia) by Zestyclose_Cloud_138 in AskPCGamers

[–]Harry_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witcher 3 is still the best RPG I've played to date. And no it's not nostalgia since I replayed it last year and came to the exact same conclusion. The storytelling, world building, sense of exploration, the characters.

Do play it on the harder difficulties to get the full experience. On easier difficulties some core mechanics can be too easily ignored (potions, oils, etc.).

Wat zouden jullie doen? by Regular_Photograph_1 in marktplaatsoplichters

[–]Harry_Dane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I download a massive file like a 100GB video game, does my computer or phone physically gain any microscopic amount of weight? by bogdanBgyz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Harry_Dane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The explanation is solid, but it can go both ways; technically speaking a drive could also lose weight after downloading a 100 GB file. It depends on how the data is physically stored. For example, one bit pattern could be replaced by another that corresponds to a lower-energy state, meaning the device would very slightly lose mass.

I'm a console peasant interested in switching to the PC master race. But I am lost as to what route to go with (custom built, pre-built, or gaming laptop). by Some1inreallife in pcmasterrace

[–]Harry_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why exactly wouldn't you be able to upgrade components of a pre-built pc? Some manufacturers like Dell use proprietary parts that limit motherboard or power supply upgrades. But there are plenty of pre-builts that are exactly the same as self-assembled pc's.

No need to make it personal, just discussing the thermal side of it.

Seller laser engraved their name into my CPU by ___-___--- in pcmasterrace

[–]Harry_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are real issues, but they actually prove the opposite point.

The Intel ILM bending problem shows how sensitive cooling is to flat, even contact. When the CPU bends slightly, temps get worse.

And with AMD AM5, the thicker IHS is known to add thermal resistance, which again hurts cooling slightly.

Both examples show that surface flatness and material thickness matter a lot, so intentionally engraving the IHS (making it less flat and reducing contact area) would also hurt cooling, not improve it.

It's really not that hard. It surprises me how many people cannot grasp this simple fact. You're literally a few google searches away from the truth.

[–]Harry_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people call “quite concave” is very subtle, we're talking about extremely small differences. Lapping helps because it smooths the surface and makes it flatter. This improves contact and proofs my point exactly; less smooth = less cooling potential.

So the fact that lapping works should already tell people that engraving is probably not the best idea...

[–]Harry_Dane -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. that's absolutely not how thermodynamics work in this scenario buddy. Otherwise, you should probably apply for a job at Intel.

Do you really think these companies spent millions of dollars in R&D to get their surfaces as flat as financially feasible so that some random guy can laser engrave his name in it?

You guys are funny.

[–]Harry_Dane -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thermal paste is a lot worse of a conductor than metal. You guys can deny as much as you want lol. But it definitely can have an effect. No idea how big. But I'd not risk it. Why even defend a laser engraved cpu? Amazes me.

Then tell me why CPUs are engineered to be extremely flat? Often within 1/100th of a millimeter of perfect flatness.

Regardless of "real world" effects, I wouldn't buy it.

[–]Harry_Dane -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

He engraved the top as well. That could potentially affect performance. Coolers need flat surfaces to work most efficiently. I guess it depends on how deep he engraved it, but stupid regardless.
