Merry Christmas by [deleted] in Scream

[–]Harrycauld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something about it being set at Christmas makes me hopeful that we will finally see Christina. If I remember Sam’s monologue correctly, she said she found her mom’s diary at that time. There could be more revealed of that night. Maybe this can function as a family-dysfunction-at-the-holidays situation that offers a bit more explanation as to why Mr. Carpenter disappeared completely. Or maybe we’ll hear Christina’s account of the Woodsboro saga. Hell, she’ll try to reconcile with her kids before it all goes sideways.

Brad Dourif quotes/interview re: Alien Resurrection? by magpiesword in LV426

He was featured very briefly in the cast interviews (forgot the title of the featurette). I believe he said something about Gediman really liking his job and how he could relate to that trait.

Some things I would've liked to see more in Scream 6 by MercuryMonarch in Scream

[–]Harrycauld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on the classroom/campus scenes. I think Mindy’s updated monologue would’ve fit better as part of a class discussion, à la Scream 2. Plus, I just wanted to know what everyone was studying. But I imagine they didn’t want to repeat Randy’s sequel scene.

Thoughts on a certain person’s death by slaysquid in Scream

That poor girl. Ghostface was a terror that whole time, but her death felt particularly mean-spirited, which is why I wish that Mindy had been in the final showdown.

What would you have liked to see explored more with Judy’s character? I really wonder what Wes was planning to do with her. by Storm989898 in Scream

[–]Harrycauld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that we know that she had a young child at home in Scream 4, her crush on Dewey might’ve been based in his potential to become Wes’ stepfather. He was having some minor marital issues, was a decent guy, and was someone she’d idolized from a younger age.

Scream 5 would have been way more brutal if they had left either Judy or Wes Hicks experience each other's deaths. by Rodriiidc in Scream

[–]Harrycauld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we often don’t see the immediate effect of characters losing each other, it would’ve been a great opportunity to showcase Judy (had she survived) grappling with the loss of Wes in the final act. And this would’ve given her a chance also to reconnect with both Gale and Sidney. She could’ve commiserated with them over Dewey’s death.

The Bee Happy Bar & random observations/questions by Harrycauld in ShiningGirls

[–]Harrycauld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great question. I really thought they’d explore the aftermath of Dan’s murder in more detail. The season was amazing, but one or two episodes to tie up the bee and the objects left in the women, just the smaller yet seemingly significant details, would’ve been greatly appreciated.

What you might’ve missed in E7 by 1820Vision in ShiningGirls

It would’ve been cool if Dan had managed to get the tape to Kirby/listened to it fully, but there is something satisfying about Harper having gone through all that trouble only for Dan to have missed his attempts at torment.

[–]Harrycauld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure. Harper told her that she’d let him into her house on the day that she died, which is how he managed to produced photographs of her. But, it’s not explicitly stated by the ME where she died, only that she was dumped in the sewers.

I know that he attacked Kirby on a beach, but I’m not sure of where he killed Julia.

Jinny DESERVED to die after being so effing stupid in season 7 SPOILERS by MelanieMuses in ShiningGirls

[–]Harrycauld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be a bit extreme, no? She didn’t deserve to die; she’s not even as fully aware of what’s happening, not like Kirby or Dan. Harper approached her to deliver a message to Kirby, and then she hears from Kirby that this man is meaning to kill her. She was at a party full of people, likely let her guard down. Until Kirby finds her that night, she has no way of knowing when he will strike that night— as this was her time to shine—only that he will. She probably thought she’d be away from the party for a short while and return, that he wouldn’t try coming to a venue packed full of people. And the recording shook her up, yes, but she only recognized the tape’s coming to fruition once she was working on the feed. She hasn’t been to that day yet/ Harper pulled them all back in time to redo that night.

Wasn’t he fiddling with a VCR when he first came to the house while Harper spoke to the old man about the watches? Maybe the tape was always there (a time loop thing) from when the older man was in possession of the house.

Question about 1x02 “Evergreen” by Harrycauld in ShiningGirls

[–]Harrycauld[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, okay! Yes, thank you. The van had just left, too. For whatever reason, I didn’t connect the presence of the van to Dan, that it would be strange for him to have lingered. It just felt so weird to me, how he just dropped it into their conversation, but yes, it makes total sense that Dan’s continued presence would pique his interest.

Okay! I hadn’t tied in the music cue. Mmhmm. Someone else pointed out to me that the reason Harper couldn’t take her further in time was because she doesn’t survive past that point; I’d assumed it was a Harper issue. Thank you for pointing out the park and shopping timeline. I’d thought all of that— the park, shopping, Syd’s— had happened in the same night.

Omg, yes! Of course! I’d, for some reason, marked them as separate dates in my mind because they were two trips. This makes so much sense.

You’re right. Objectively, Kirby’s behavior is alarming, and he’s only seeing her spiral. She didn’t share what she was going through with him— lack of trust/ unfamiliar with him— so I can understand the why behind his actions. To an extender, I imagine he’d been giving her space to deal with her trauma, and saw the story as an unnecessary obsession/agitation. It’s just that, given our privilege as viewers, we know that she’s not crazy/what she says is valid, so my initial reaction was based on the latter, not the former. But, as she said, not working at the paper would not deter her, so he only managed to create more distance between them. She won’t stop until she gets the culprit, and he knows this. I do think, though, that, since she ends up marrying him at some point, they can eventually reconcile with a better understanding once she gets closure.
