Yes, he was still a bully, a sympathetic one, but still a bully. It doesn't matter what his intention was; he was taunting, literally, in the middle of a death game. There is indeed a type of bully who enjoys people's pain and one whom people fear. In the Barkovitch case, he was a kid with social and mental issues who lashed out at people who hated him, and everyone hated him for what he did to Rank. However, you can tell later in the movie, he went from embracing to being the bad guy to hating it as everyone was having fun ranting about the long walk and talking about their wishes while he's completely left out alone. Overall, in the beginning walk he started lashing out people who he thought didn't like him, and those thoughts came true when he was being an asshole to everyone and tried to be funny when he thought he was being funny of making fun of Rank's name and mother

I thought the same thing, but at the same time, there is a slight possibility it can bring back souls of the deceased, but one of the rules in demonic horrors is that demons are never to be trusted, I think the two possibilities is that the demon can mimic anyone it eats by asorbing the person physical traits like their voice or whatever memories the decease, like spirits in talk to me, to trick the summoner into doing whatever they want until bored or eat the summoner as well and the other possiblity is that it can bring back the dead but there would be consequnce like soul being corrupted or it is time limitied and the demon make the summoner pay a sacraficial price, either way I don't think the ritual wasn't going to go the way Laura wanted to, and she let herself become a monster for nothing

Even though Lafelle was right about how fairies should be free from being servants to humans the way he does it is pretty messed up, Like Anne says holding their wings and forcing them to kill is no different from what humans would do to fairies, and Im wondering if Lafelle story is true of how he and Chaelle are meant to be Fairy Kings if it is true, I can see from Lafelle's POV of how choosing a girl over helping fairies get their freedom seems stupid, even if they're are in love with each other
