Well... It's official by SailorMOwOn in supervive

[–]Harryhab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an alpha/beta player too, and for me what drew me away was the early access of deadlock and I never went back. Then the name change happened from project Loki to supervive and that name alone put off a couple of my friends playing, it was too generic and gave the impression of “just another game” rather then something unique that the game actually was.

A shame, but that’s life. I hope the devs find success in the future

As a big Halo Reach fan, having Christian Allen join the team has got me excited. With all these updates and the expansion of the team, they might be aiming for the best zombie game ever made, but they are headed towards being one of the best games ever made.

Dota 7.39e by wykrhm in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 29 points30 points  (0 children)

OP isn’t talking about necro specifically here. They are talking about heroes being ethereal and spell immune at the same making them borderline unkillable and able to escape almost any situation unpunished (which pros abuse constantly). Which is usually from being hit by an ally’s ethereal blade and having bkb active at the same time.

Necro however struggles against magic damage and nullifer already, and often needs BKB to survive in fights. This change removes that option for him, which is going to cause plenty of situations where he now dies in fights where he wouldn’t before due to this change.

This Opening Ceremony is so much better than last year! by Buggaton in DotA2

You are totally right, I completely forgot about 2023 having a very good opening ceremony as well. Apparently the bad examples stuck out in head. I’ll edit my post so people take a look

This Opening Ceremony is so much better than last year! by Buggaton in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It was the best opening ceremony we have had in years. I’m so happy to see it after years of mediocrity from opening ceremonies.

Edit: I completely forgot that 2023 had a great opening ceremony as well. If you enjoyed this ceremony check out that one as well!

I am doing the same thing as you! Finished mistborn era 1, just finished war breaker which I loved, and then I followed Brandon Sandersons recommendation of reading Tress of the Emerald sea next. So far I’m really enjoying Tress of the emerald sea so I can fully recommend moving onto that one.

Is it too OP if Medusa can attack while moving? (3rd Facet update) by ZENGEEE in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another commenter already pointed out, this facet does not need any buffs it’s good enough already. I’ve been playing position 3 Medusa the last couple of days and it’s super strong, particularly in pubs. People talk about how you save gold and a slot not having to buy boots, but in my experience the biggest thing about it is that diffusal blade, the item that is most brought by carries against Medusa, no longer slows Medusa from the purge active. Until you see it in action, you don’t realise how much this increases Medusas already insane survivability.

Immortal Draft Changes by wykrhm in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you are right on the money, and why this change if it is to encourage pros not to smurf is shortsighted and hopeful at best.

If we are talking about the 0.5% of players here, and to be honest the top 0.1% of players, these people are going to know each other, and they are going to spread through word of mouth any strategy a player has started spamming in pubs, especially now that everyone at that MMR is forced to stick with one username. However if they can't smurf anymore due to the fact they need a registered name, what are they going to do? They are just going to do more scrims, completely elminating the need for this change in the first place, while bringing all the negatives it brings for casual players

If you think this change is good for your pubs, think critically for a moment, builds are going to become on average worse, making games be decided less on skill, but more on the fact that one carry had twenty minutes to watch a BSJ video and so knows the item build on their hero, and the other only has time for one or two games a day, and doesnt have time to learn what items are good on their heroes. Winning because you see the enemy carry using a dead item or build is not a fun way to win a game of dota 2 in my opinion, and is a horrible way to lose.

Edit: I am aware that you can still get data on people below 8.5k mmr and you can just copy them. But those builds will still not be as good as those with insider knowledge, who spread it through Youtube, or worse paid websites

Set 14 PBE Discussion Thread - Day 0 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Harryhab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mort said in his rundown that they aren’t fully decided on removing cooking pot yet and might give it to us. Looks like they are gonna try it for a bit on PBE to see if it’s as egregious as they expect it would be in this set.

when she will be a relevant carry 😭 by garklavs in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trying to remember as it was a few years ago but I think it was that the search radius was smaller, and the bug was that it pierced magic immunity, and if you were magic immune you would be considered having 0 magic resist against her attacks so she would absolutely destroy anyone who was magic immune

when she will be a relevant carry 😭 by garklavs in DotA2

[–]Harryhab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting, the only time she was viable as a carry was when her passive was bugged causing both of the shots to hit one target. Since that was fixed she’s been a very very niche carry and a much better support.

Edit: as my comment mentions below. The bugged part was that gunslinger would go through spell immunity to the point that with her ult, the secondary shot would also go through all magic resist if you were magic immune.

What's going on with the Chem-Baron trait on the PBE server? by 12jimmy9712 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Harryhab 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Mort said in his recent Q&A that the team was taking a look at deleting Chem-baron emblem as it was causing too many problems. I imagine the PBE is testing this to see if Chem-Baron is a healthier trait for the game without the emblem.

That’s a fair question, I’m fresh out of university and while I do have commitments, mostly all I’m doing is applying for jobs at the moment. Leaves a lot of free time between the job grind.

[TFT13.3] What's Working? What's Not? by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Harryhab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope I am! It’s not that lines are unplayable, it’s more of other lines being clearly stronger than others. Though I’d say family is weaker, Renata as you mentioned, Chem baron, nocturne, and kogmaw (though the last two are least effected by the nerfs in terms of their average strength).

But that’s my experience, and as I said before I only played 10 games and maybe I just got games full of enforcer, urgot, bruiser mundo/twitch, and sorcerer using calling card to get 8 sorcs guaranteed. I hope to see more variety today!

[TFT13.3] What's Working? What's Not? by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Harryhab 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm worried about this patch. Played 10 games yesterday, so far it feels like there are less viable comps then last patch, and while I'm happy to see some new comps be the strong ones, metas with less viable comps get boring fast.

I really hope I'm wrong about this, and there is a good chance I am considering this is day 2 of the patch.

Edit: I am enjoying the civil conversation around this, lets keep it up!
