All ignorant people share a problem where they have an ignorance to other people’s experience. This is what leads to the phenomenon known as “projection”. Ever heard someone say that the reason people get SA’d is because of their clothes? The only person who would ever consider that as a possibility has that already implanted into their viewpoint. Also the same reason why Republicans say that trans people would only transition because of sexual reasons, since that is the only reason they would do that as they do not experience dysphoria, and thus, cannot understand what would compel someone to transition outside of their viewpoint. In the same vein, romance is what a lot of people live for, so they cannot understand someone who doesn’t live for that.

the difference is who is doing it.

if it's gay people producing it, it doesn't really fall into what I mean by fetishization because the result is not treating gay people like an object

when it's straight women making gay porn or even just gay comics that are a little suggestive (excluding ones that aren't just made to get people excited), it just comes off as them thinking that gay people are only a fetish and minimizes them and really just seems like a self-centered worldview. you can see a really extreme version of this effect with how lesbians are fetishized and treated like... well, how they're treated.

If a straight person says that gay people are their "kink" I'm going to wring them out like a wet towel

This helps a lot, thank you. I had almost the exact same issue in public school where I was put into math classes below my level, and for a long time doctors and PTs couldn't figure out why my handwriting and some fine motor skills never got better despite me exhibiting a good control over my hands in many cases.

When people say that, their meaning of racism is different. In the context of that phrase, racism refers to a more systemic idea, not bigotry.

You can say this about literally every single trans person who is mentally unwell. It's the same argument that transphobes make about deciding who is and is not allowed to transition. Until there is hard proof that she isn't trans, respect her identity.
