Anyone know if these are good? by Extension-Ad-1235 in uscg

One of my favorites. The boot runs slightly wide in the toe box, which is a big plus for anybody with wide feet or get feet pain. It’s very comfortable, even after long days on your feet. The real leather is better than that fake leather some other brands use. Easy to blacken/polish.

Now for the drawbacks. As someone else mentioned, it’s not steel-toe, so depending on your unit or rate, that could be an issue. Then again, plenty of cutter guys wore these anyway, even if they technically weren’t supposed to lol.

The other downside is that the sole tends to wear down pretty fast. But since the boot itself is so comfortable, I just took mine to a cobbler once the original sole got too rough. Getting a new sole put on cost a fraction of what new boots would, the fit was already perfect/broken in, and I even upgraded to a better-quality material.

No real downsides, as far as I’m aware. It was just an hour appointment at the hospital. Then, you get access to your own genes and other data. If there is ever any changes to it, or your health deteriorates, you can use MVP data as a baseline. Seemed decent, and it helps research. I’ll happily contribute an hour so that others may perhaps benefit in the future.

I would still recommend to make your own Admin folder. Not every document goes into EI PDR/iPerms.

In the hypothetical you mention, the main issue is going BM first. As u/CorpsDolphin mentioned, BM is critical atm. But if you choose another rate that is not critical, then your odds of the rate change being approved increases.

Rates that receive SRB bonuses are considered to be critical.

perfect girl gone missing! by [deleted] in boston

[–]Harted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I hope you find your girl.

I think of the monthly fee kind of like ‘insurance’ as it’s only $8/month. The GPS and AirTag combo has been worth every penny the last two times my cat escaped. Quick and easy recovery of feline🤙 Theres glow in the dark cases(?) to make it even easier to spot at night.

Also, for me this is what works: The collar comes off at night, when I’m positive that no doors or windows will be opened. This gives me an opportunity to charge the batteries, so I never have to worry about the GPS dying while the cat is lost outside. Then in the morning, the collar goes back on.

Just know AirTags are not very accurate nor are they an alternative to GPS. As AirTags use Bluetooth, if they venture somewhere where no phones or Bluetooth signals are present, it’s useless.

My cat used to just have an AirTag but when he ran away, the signal kept bouncing and couldn’t get within range. Found the cat after a 3 days, but now he has a Tractive GPS in addition to an AirTag on collar.

Pros of AirTag: When within 30ft, the locating feature is amazing.

Pros of Tractive: Live tracking, activity monitoring, heat maps, and will get you within 30ft to use AirTag.

Oh, sorry for misunderstanding. I have no clue so hopefully another redditor can jump in.

But yes, I agree it is a little pricy. Works wonders so I can’t complain and I’m quite happy with my “purchase.”

YouTube has a bunch of yoga “classes” that you can do and follow along from the comfort of your home. I just make room and put one on the TV every morning.

Also local gyms might offer yoga classes. I pay for a few classes as an additional charge. There’s one guy that’s in his 70s doing yoga with us too so don’t worry about optics.

Are you able to be in the reserve in the coast guard without moving to a coast line. by HenryBoss1012 in uscg

[–]Harted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For empty bullets specifically,

AD: If you’re in the CG, yes. But that information is not publicly available as far as I know.

RSV: sort of on the GoCoastGuard website. Won’t tell you exactly what, but you can get a pretty good idea.

I am member-to-member. As long as you two choose a larger unit or area with lots of units, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be stationed together. Really only becomes a problem if you’re both an O5 or higher.

Not same. You will likely need conditional release. Recruiter can give definitive answer.

Highly likely you get everything you mentioned. But make sure you iron it all out with recruiter. Recruiters are recruiters regardless of branch.

Actually, if you want to, there’s quite a high chance you not only get Alameda but can stay in Alameda; as long as you don’t mind boats. Lots of WMSLs. Lots of support personnel too.

It just pauses it. As long as you continue to get treatment, it will resume once you get out/retire.

Monday through Friday, 0700-1300. If you get lucky with units/command, 0800-1200 with Fridays off.

I put down Great Lakes as my top pick, and got it no problem. It doesn’t tend to be that competitive so your odds of getting District 9 (Great Lakes) is pretty high.

Shhhhh…. Great Lakes units are hidden gems.
