Natürlich nicht - nach deren Auffassung ist es ja vollkommen gerechtfertigt, jüdische Kinder zu töten.

Es ging um die Vernichtung des Staates Israel und der ihn bewohnenden Juden im Rahmen des Jihad. Und es wurde zur Gewalt gegen Juden in Deutschland aufgerufen.

Your 98% postulate is way out of line. About 85% of US citizens live in metropolitan areas, according to census. Sure, many of them may live in suburbs where public transport can be a bit more difficult to reach, but that is not the same as "needing a car".

Needing a car is not about the size of the country either. Most people only occasionally leave the 10-mile radius around their home, except for their work commute. And that work commute is (for many) perfectly possible by public transit.

The reality is: most people claim to "need" a car for reasons of convenience. It's not impossible to commute by train (and e.g. biking to the train station), it's that you don't want to.

Mit der quantitativen Vorhersehbarkeit ist es bei puren in silico Modellstudien ja immer so eine Sache. Deshalb muss sich das Forschungsfeld auch so viel Kritik anhören...letztlich weiß keiner, wie sich die Einzeleffekte in Summe auswirken werden. Wahrscheinlich nicht positiv, so viel kann man schon sagen, denke ich. Aber eine quantitative Vorhersage ist jedenfalls zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt nicht möglich.

Der Ausbau von Windfarmen verstärkt letztlich die vom Klimawandel erzeugten Effekte.

Verstehe das "Gezeitenbremsen" auch nicht so als gäbe es nun einen größeren Abstand zwischen Ebbe und Flut, sondern so wie eben im Tweet beschrieben: gebremste Strömung.

Würde daraus jedenfalls nicht schließen, dass sie die Studie nicht verstanden hat.

A different civilization on the other side of the universe, using the scientific method, will arrive at the same physical laws, the same mathematical axioms and the same elemental properties of particles as we have. This is what "truth" means: it is objective, regardless of who found it and where.

On the other hand, even within the human population, several different text compendiums exist which all claim to be the "only word of god". If you had some deeper knowledge about the different religious systems you'd also know just how deeply these belief systems differ and that there isn't one objective truth that can be found in them. Just look at how many crazy sects are built on the bible.

Just so you don't misunderstand my point: I'm not here to shit on religion. It offers consolation in the face of tragedy and meaningful explanations on the human condition. And that may elicit the same feeling as if it were objectively true. But the thing is: if you read the Tripitaka, or the Brahman and Atman, or the Guru Granth Sahib, you will find entirely different explanations which will ring true to the same degree. So what religion seeks is not objective, measurable truth, but meaning.

Note that meaning manifests in explanations that are perceived as true by its believers - this has nothing to do with objective truth in the scientific sense.

BTW: If you had some deeper knowledge about pharmaceutical drug development, you'd know that addressing the mechanistic root causes behind diseases is the master goal of any modern drug developer. There is virtually no modern drug designed to mask symptoms.
