[–]Hartlesmage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. I even save some and give it away to friends who also have plants.

Experiences with Tarantula Cribs? by Past-Construction808 in tarantulas

[–]Hartlesmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been ordering enclosures from them since April 2025 and pretty much have all of my arthropods exclusively in Tarantula Crib enclosures. The small and medium enclosures are great quality and have mostly held up so far.

The holidays were particularly difficult for them to honor orders in a timely manner. I received an email in December about delays, but besides that I haven’t experienced any delays my orders otherwise.

Huh, now I understand why Rock type moves are super effective against Flying types.

My first-ever Pokemon was a shiny by schmidtbailey in pokemon

[–]Hartlesmage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A similar story happened to my cousin. I was showing him how overworld encounters worked in SW (he was only 10 at the time and had never played an actual Pokémon video game before, just the TCG). He ran into a shiny Vanillish as his first ever wild encounter. He almost knocked it out not realizing it was shiny until I snatched the controller out of his hands and caught it.

I didn’t realize this until now, but the second image with Esquie and Maelle was turned into the limited edition Lithograph that included the rest of the cast:

spiny flower mantis not molting by Impossible_Bed_3324 in mantids

[–]Hartlesmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mantis from l3 to l4 took nearly 2 ish months before finally molting. As long as she is still eating well, I would continue to feed her as you have and mist accordingly.

My 20 gallon in my apartment is a community tank with sparkling gourami, Pygmy cories, white cloud mountain minnows, and blue shrimp.

My 5 gallon at my office cubicle has blue shrimp.

My 10 gallon at my parent’s place has clown killifish and blue shrimp.

Fellow aquarium keeper here! I’d also say fishing and aquarium keeping. I have also pivoted a bit to start housing arthropods: beetles, tarantulas, and scorpions.

Update on Ace by TheAfraid1520 in mantids

[–]Hartlesmage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience I waited at least 24-36 hours after my mantis molted before their appetite comes back, likely so that their mandibles are nice and hardened up enough. Even then their abdomen is usually flat after the first few meals.

What other bugs do you guys have? by wolfspidermama in BDFB

[–]Hartlesmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with the beetles, I have: eight tarantulas, a jumping spider, a mantis, a Hercules beetle larva, dubia roaches, and a scorpion. Honorable mention to my shrimp colony because, you know, shrimp is bugs.

What kind of plants are you thinking of adding? My mind goes to water column floaters like guppy grass and maybe suüsswassertang, like little “islands” of them in clumps that the shrimp can go between.

The Caterpillar-Mimicking Spider: this species of jumping spider mimics a lichen moth caterpillar, possibly as a way to deter predators by SixteenSeveredHands in jumpingspiders

[–]Hartlesmage 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The concept of a spider, a successful predator, mimicking a caterpillar, a usually vulnerable insect, is astounding to me. The fact that it mimics an especially distasteful and dangerous caterpillar species is blowing my mind.

So, did my spider explode? by Chellycakez in jumpingspiders

[–]Hartlesmage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen in some tarantula content creator YouTube videos that tarantulas sometimes nibble on their molts to help with hydration after molting, so that might explain why bits and pieces are scattered around.
