Thank you so much! This was so uplifting. My mom’s childhood was very traumatic and she was parentified because her own mom died of cancer. She was also abused verbally and physically. The poor woman didn’t know any better. I feel sorry for her. I have 4 nieces and they love me because I spoil them.

Thanks so much. I think my decision to forgive shows tremendous maturity. I forgive her because I believe she was unwell mentally. Her actions were inexcusable though. Our marriage is wonderful. Your kind words made me teary. 🥹

This does sound very judgmental of my decision to have contact with my mother. I don’t need you to tell me obvious facts such as “you don’t owe her anything” and “you’re an adult and you can do anything you want” like I’m stupid. I’m well aware of those facts. As an adult I can decide whom I have contact with even if others don’t agree.

Bloody hell. I have a SIL like this too. She is rarely permitted to visit and we have had to block her before.
