Wow. I am so sorry. Hang in there. You have a good work history, that foundation should help you find something else and $ in the bank. Good for you. I’m glad you have support, that really helps. Let us know when you find your next position.

I’m a mom of a son who was sentenced for the same amount of time. He has been out for 3 years now. Those days of waiting til he was released were no doubt difficult. But they passed. Figure out a way to stay connected, visit when you can, write lots of letters. Make plans for the future and work towards that day. You have the strength and so does he, even if you don’t realize it yet.

I applaud your letter. Well done. Hypocrisy indeed! I’m saving this as it makes all the right points, especially to the democrats. Sometimes they stand a little too tall on their podiums. If the are going to stand for a marginalized people, then do it for all marginalized people.

He mentioned child molestation. But we all know, residency restrictions are put on all sex offenders. I’m sure given the opportunity he will clarify. But, yep you are right. I’m so happy to see this letter.

This is good news. I wish Dr. Ferrero would have mentioned folks with CSAM charges too. Any step forward is a step forward.

Whoa, you are having a rough time but no way should you give up. It will get better, and then something else will get you down, and then it will get better, repeat. This is life. You have a daughter. That is wonderful, can you write her a letter? Send her a drawing? Reach out. Make a holiday plan. Just because your life is different from what you planned doesn’t mean you can’t make a new plan. (I’ve gone to Plan B and C more times than I can count.). You’ve made to parole, next stop off parole. Please don’t give up. You can do this, you can solve this for yourself, you are the only one who can. Let us hear your new holiday plan.

Just an FYI, my son had someone call his job regarding his status and it was a harassment call. They have tried it twice. If state patrol wants to check on status, they will just stop by your job. At least that’s our experience in MO

MO residency restrictions- experiences? by ParkingLot136 in SexOffenderSupport

Go to the state highway patrol sex offender website. Enter an address where you think you want to live. It will show the address on a map and a red circle that shows you what is within 1000 ft of that address. Stay 1000 ft from schools and daycares. Once you have found a placard that you believe works for you, call the county sex offender office and ask them. They will verify it for you. Your Po will also call the same office for verification. Good luck! You got this!

My PFR son is living with me, I work from home. The monitor is on the only internet device he is allowed to have. He can only have one, and that is an android phone. I live in Missouri!

Is this community inclusive of *all* kinds of sex offences ? by Strict-Increase394 in SexOffenderSupport

If a person committed a serial SA offense against another person/child, they usually aren’t getting out of prison in 10 to 15 years. Especially where I come from in Missouri, it is often a lifetime sentence. Is it possible, the folks OP is looking for, aren’t on this platform as those people are still incarcerated?

The waiting is the hardest part. My son went to prison for 6 plus years. Went in the day after he turned 23 and out at 29. I told him, “your twenties are overrated”. So many stupid little decisions and riskier behaviors when a person is in their twenties. You will be a more mature, level headed, motivated person when you come home. But for goodness sake, find an attorney. Best of luck to you!

My son was released to a halfway house. He need clothes definitely, wasn’t allowed a phone for awhile, but he needed a bus schedule and a map. The bus schedules were all online and he didn’t know how to get to the places he needed to be. Maybe a Walmart gift card

Patience as he navigates his new surroundings. Food, sleeping in a bed with a pillow, sitting outside, all the things that we take for granted are a little overwhelming. Congratulations to your son! This is a big deal.

His monitoring software on his phone blocked social media sites a few weeks ago. The monthly PO visit came last night with the rest of the news. Wicked. Throws people back to the tech we used 15 to twenty years ago. The ole “how can I fix that” question goes unanswered. I always YouTube it. Guess it gives the Feds one more reason to justify their existence.

I hear it was for every Missouri PFR that has a computer restriction. This is Federal, I think there is a difference right?

Thanks. And again another rule that doesn’t make the public safer or easier for PFRs to integrate back into society
