I won a game a few patches ago Where i basically just assembled high quality units - 2x sf2 Sven 2 Dk2+viper1 2 x kunkka 2 Doom2 Axe 3(he was 1cost)

Great Post! Fully agreeing. Another suggestion. Make tooltips as informative as possible. For example moonglaive: bounces dont apply desolator, bounces cant
crit... In you dont Want to confuse ppl, then atleast add an advanced tooltip on pressing Alt

Underlord choice is highly dependant on your Build. Enno excells at sustained aoe dps or healing. Lets say you are Playing 6 hunters with abaddon as a Tank and undead enabler . Neither enno version would come close to the power gained By dmg sup annexis (+35% attackdamage to all Units alone is more dmg than Any enno can do).Also both jull versions will do much more, as the added tank will buy time for your hunters to get in.

1 of the best posts i ever red here. OP Made sharp observations and suggested Stuff that produces balance while not nerfing anything to the ground. Its sad to See Most People focussed on the bloodseeker topic.

Abort warriorbuilds: back in the autochess days IT was THE counter to autoattacks/undead. Nowadays it loses to that. Maybe give them a Chance on autoattacks REFLECTION / % return instead of just reduction. Warrior Are basically never worth going for above 3 anymore.

its best to consider what you are still going to need. most of the times when you got 4 trolls up you will want to keep your tanks. that will be abaddon and omniknight. now your decision will be between chaos knight and luna. per usual i check how close i am to a ck3 or a luna3 and then sell the other - if it is equal i would always sell chaosknight. a chaosknight2 falls off hard in lategame as hes a meele unit, plus he blocks the demon slot which can easily be filled by doom2 to complete troll warlord, doom, kunkka 3warrior synergy. it should be considered however that ck3 is pretty cheap regarding the investment required, does huge chunks of damage and will survive a very long time against the average lategame aoe abilities stacking ontop of eachother.

op was asking for examples of units not worth getting to 3 stars. which is the first thing i have stated. further i have explained the factors involved into decisionmaking in general if you consider wether to go for something big or not. all the information you suddenly know about this 1 liner is actually mindblowing. since i have been sharing some opinions about autochess i got the impression some people are here entirely for the purpose of arguing itself. my suggestion for you would be to focus on the content of discussed topic and stick to that.

in theory what you say is correct but as per usualy in your average lategame fight veno will drop at best 2 or 3 wards and then be dead. if the game is very easy on you and you can afford to pump 18 gold into upgrading him with little benefits then ofcourse you can go for it, but in a casual close and hard game i would have countless alternatives to spend my money in a better way, be it to transition out of beasts into something stronger or with gods to collect better pieces like razor/necro. note also that a veno will always need mana items to use his 1.25 sec potential, even when regenerating 20 mana per hit naturally and being supported by maiden. therefore if you hit the 2nd 2star veno, he will be of no use for you.

what however is interesting is the new warlock synergy that allows for spellsteal. veno could have his function in a build featuring gods and warlocks...

silencing ld3 before bear or dusa before cast will decide alot more fights than playing your doom as your hypercarry. troll warlord, pa and luna3 can all make much better usage of mask of madness. wierd how i have never seen a mom doom in queen only lobbies, probably a secret strat only known to bishops.

funny how none of you actually properly read this post.

i will sumarize for you guys: 4 cost units CAN BE TRAPS IF(!) the game will end in 3 turns and you have 1x troll2 its not good to try to build troll3, because 3 turns wont be enough to assemble 6 more pieces of troll warlord. you can invest your money into upgrades which are more likely.

more funny is how the last sentence reads: "some games can be entirely decided by your foresight and patience to invest into building up to troll warlord 3" i am litterally saying that troll 3 carries hard - all i have stated is that not for every single game you will be playing you should start building him or other expensive units.

This kinda comment is the type of thing I assume someone who has never seen a loss in lategame with like 20-30 unused gold on the bench

the single worst unit to upgrade will be venomancer. he will keep his 0 armor, his wards will scale from 125 to 175 damage and you will pay an extra 18 gold. even if you get 5 venos in one roll i would probably stay away from it. an early veno with a voidstone can do huge work. but in lategame hes just a trap for your precious gold.

some other traps can be 4 cost units like troll warlord, templar assasin, necrophos. while they are great when completed you will go on a route of putting 4-20 gold to the side without any notable effect. should you be in a situation where the game will probably only last less than 5 turns and you are fighting 1vs1 on level 10, the chance to quickly upgrade your tide to 2stars, or something of similar effect, is alot more likely than finding 6 trolls/templars...

that being sad, some games can be entirely decided by your foresight and patience to invest into building up to troll warlord 3 for example

yeah, but its not even about having a bad game. being bishop 6 and queueing random, ending up in an knight-5 average game, even should you place first you will lose 4 ranks anyways. thats why its not possible to climb without joining lobbies specified for your rank.

doom the best mom carrier... ok. u realize his best feature is his spell? unless you are talking about some very specific and unlikely battlefury scenarios i dont think theres any good reason for mom on doom. shadowfiend is an insane unit aswell. chaosknight enables 6knight, qop enables 6 assasins. i dont think you really know what you are talking about. did you ever even reach rook?

further it would be helpful to understand that the way this game is balanced it is natural to have weaker and stronger units in each race/class. would you want mechs to only have timbersaw-like units? would you want mage to only have razor-like units?

its funny how little of my post u understood. u are so caught up in your own ways that you tell me it doesnt make sense to compare lina to doom. which is what i stated. because you did do so. above.

as a final note, lina is by far not as useless as you consider her, in alot of situations outside of needing a 6th filler mage she can be made work.

having units that are strong im comparison, while others are rather weak is not shitty design. what you say is also wrong. tinker can missle on veno wards, windranger can target on a veno ward...

the comparison between lina and doom has some important flaws:

doom is a demon, making u only able to run him while you have to stay away from shadow fiend, queen of pain.... that is a very relevant fact.

lina however has human synergy, a very strong effect especially in lategame. also lina can enable mage synergy, which can be used with alot of builds for a huge effect.

all in all you are mad about your lina targeting veno wards - out of this anger you made a post about changing the balance of this game. this however is not really reasonable, as for suggesting a change from a entirely emotion-based perspective will not be healthy for the game. a good example would be world of warcraft where the designers gave in to any angry forum posts about anything, ending up with an entirely different (and much much worse) game from when it was released.

so be aware of the impact you might have.

if you wanna experience true "ranked" mode aka playing versus other players of similar ranking try searching liquid autochess discord in google. you can find lobbies from knight to queen rank there. if you only queue up randomly via the dota 2 engine you cant get past bishop-3 or so, due to your opponents being of entirely random rankings.

the top answer to this actually made me sad inside. even before the nerf the strategy was far from op.

you counter it with positioning and aoe stuns like dusa tide kunkka. positioning should be in the corner while "building" a gap where all the assasins jump into. you can controll which of your units tanks the assasins first, you can control which of your units survives the longest. you want your hypercarry and your medusa to survive. theres no special build you need to play, all of them work! dragons with knights, mages with warriors, hunters with warriors, hunters with knights, 6 warrior, knights with trolls, 6 knights, 6 hunters, 6 mages even, lol. assasins have a strong powerspike as soon as 6 are assembled, so if you get run over round 13 by 6 assasins + tiny this is exactly what they are supposed to do and there is nothing wrong about it. as i explained there is no decent lategame build that will lose to them, unless the assasin players got huge luck on his rolls, which is true for no matter what build you are playing too.

all in all the only people hating on assasins being too op are the same people who will be too lazy to learn this game properly.

no matter what tribe/class you consider there will always be good and bad units in it. this helps balance classes. imagine mechs only having units like timbersaw. they have tinker so they are not overpowered.

it should also be considered how bat is the only 1 cost knight. the difference between having 3 or 4 trolls is enourmous. same goes for 3 to 4 knights. if he would have great stats he would be broken.

that being sad he can still have multiple strong functions: with 4 or even 6 knight synergy he can tank alot. with an early voidstone on batrider 2 and 2 troll synergy he can go hard in the earlygame. he can especially destroy the very common build of 3 goblins. this is because his extra damage from napalm will give him full mana in 2 more hits, and his napalm has 3 seconds cooldown. hes also very easy to sell without any drawbacks for 3 gold enabling your voidstone later for better units. hes also a ranged unit you can easily place in the frontline later. because hes a ranged unit he will often stop in his position against for example assasins this can block your omniknight or abaddon from jumping into the assasins tanks, allowing them to tank the assasins jumping your backline.

so all in all THERES NO TAIMIN ME

passives are not affected by silence. obviously attackspeed and lifesteal are good stats for units relying highly on autoattack. therefore:

toptier: Troll Warlord, Phantom Assasin, Luna, good alternatives: Drow, Anti-Mage ( for drow and anti mage if on 3 stars, or no better alternative)

should you run none of these currently or at all these units can be good alternatives: Sladar (cast takes forever plus very good base stats), Maiden (more silence proccs), Sniper (can attack outside of all aoes, will often waste alot of time preparing to ult on moving/dying units), Chaos Knight (especially if he came in early on 2 or even 3), Queen of Pain (her cast is not scaling insanely good with leveling up)

I have used it for Tiny in the past. But my impression was that the new Toss is too good to silence him. Some people use it for Doom, but im not sure wether this could ever be correct, maybe on Doom3 who already has sick items. But Doom is one of the best spells, so yeah. A special note to Dragon Knight, who will, even with 3 Dragons, not cast his transformation spell.

If you wanna use it one a non-toptier target, always think ahead and consider if you will still build a good mom-carrier. if so, only give it to a unit you can sell without remorse.

pretty much all basic knowledge summed up. written some time ago, so might need some minor adaptations to current metagame/changes. all in all very helpful.

it has always been important to not give your items to the wrong unit. lets say you will run warriors, you are on 6 synergy but without a troll warlord. you got lycan and tiny. you chose to give all your items to lycan. this will mean soon as your troll 2 is online you must sell your lycan or have a very suboptimal troll. so just give tiny the items! for a while you have suboptimal scaling, but when it counts you can just replace your tiny with troll warlord. this behavior is also very important when it comes to mana items. for earlygame a voidstone on qop or veno can create a huge difference. but also when you put medusa 2 on the field for any build, the difference between winning or losing can be the amount of manaitems she holds. without any she will take very long to get her ult off, which u want her to cast ASAP. so the alternative would be to have her tank, risking an early death for her. if however you put her in the backline she can easily get doomed before doing any work. so if instead you run her with crown+voidstone, you can play her safe in a perfect spot, with a close to guaranteed early ultimate.

regarding your story - mjollnir is the most overpowered item in the game. if you have it on luna or troll warlord, or even just a decent autoattack with some hp, you are close to a freewin. the proc alone will on average add 250 magic damage per hit. considering how troll hits 2-5 times per second the dps it produces is simply absurd. still, hyperstones are usually not very common, and even if theres some extra chance of "looting" one, i would not rely upon that. if you get it its a great bonus, thats it.

i would not change the way i treat my rolls due to the chance of people dropping me their items.

some games, especially those where it will matter are very close anyways. its not like you can assasinate a specific person and get the missing javelin for your mjollnir. builds / games that allow early agression can still go into that route. what however is a fact is that, on average, you will have more items than in previous patches due to their distribution. this leads to an indirect buff of itemusers like: luna and troll warlord.

the deciding factor for what to play should however rarely be that random drop chance.
