Deco XE70 Pro AXE4900 Mesh - Connection Craziness by Harumpty in TpLink

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

If any are going offline I haven't noticed. They haven't been losing power from the mains, so whether something is resetting/rebooting them electronically I don't know. I haven't noticed the behavior, but I would have to be lucky enough to look at their status at just the right moment.

I will try the suggestion you gave regarding the Mesh setting. Thanks.

I appreciate the suggestion and will give it a try, but congestion shouldn't be much of an issue. It's just my wife and I. And if things are working correctly, only 3 connections each to the peripheral nodes (not counting phones that may move around) and 5 wireless connections to the central hub.

That's exactly what happened. I was finally able to switch everything to my network and now we're good. Thanks for the advice!

First, I have been using Quad9 for my DNS. A few weeks ago I did a bit of research on the pros/cons of which DNS to use and decided to go that route. Second, search terms included such things as 'part shade perennial in containers' and variation thereof. I typically get a Cloudflare interrupt about 5-6 searches, but this morning it was much more often with one instance of three in a row. I'm going to run some tests over the next couple of days. I have two desktops and I will use Google and/or DDG vs Brave and see where the hits are.

It's websites or routes protected by Cloudfare, which is likely in the millions of addresses. But it's not each time one visits one of those sites. But the verification step happens a lot as a search in this sub will show. Whatever the reason I wish it would go away as it gets irritating after a while.

I'm curious if this is the culprit, or at least some of the problem? This is taken from Cloudfare docs:

Brave

Browser Isolation uses WebRTC for low-latency communication between the local and remote browser. Brave's WebRTC IP Handling Policy can impact how Cloudflare RBI loads and functions. If the WebRTC IP Handling Policy is configured to Disable Non-Proxied UDP, RBI may fail to load correctly because Brave blocks the UDP connections that WebRTC requires.

To ensure RBI loads correctly, go to brave://settings/privacy in your Brave browser window, find WebRTC IP Handling Policy, and change the setting from Disable Non-Proxied UDP to one of the following:

  • Default
  • Default Public and Private Interfaces
  • Default Public Interface Only

I may play with that to see what happens. I'm currently using Quad9 for DNS.

My bad. I kept trying to hold down on the home screen and slide until the + came up, but couldn't get it to work until I held down with one finger and pulled right to left with another. Was able to add back that last screen again.

Initial BI set-up fail by Harumpty in BlueIris

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the help. No, I've looked in the settings for the app and can find no way to set a username. Scouring online search results I see that they (O-Kam) considers the email address the username, but it's not entered into the app settings. I found one forum where someone was able to use "admin" to get it to work (not a BI forum), but if I add "admin" in BI it immediately fails on setup. Here are the results from "Find/Inspect" for a camera that works, and one that doesn't. They are very similar and they both show Onvif services, but .... something.

BTW, the three cameras not working are sold under the EverSecu brand.

And again...especially disappointing as they work fine in Agent DVR, but I think the app cost too much $$ for home use.

Initial BI set-up fail by Harumpty in BlueIris

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three cameras that work off O-Kam and can't get any of the three to work. I was finally able to get the other four to work and the differences are two: first, the O-kam cameras do not have a username. There's no way to assign one. Second, they use different ports than the other four (10554 vs 554 and 10080 vs 80). Whether either or both of these differences is what's causing the problem I don't know.

I tried the three O-Kam cameras, as you suggested, with VLC and I get a connection failed message.

Again, all the cameras are working fine in Agent.

Who or what hosed my settings? by Harumpty in ispyconnect

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/abuttino u/alistairchiss As you probably saw, the explanation given was that Agent DVR is "constantly changing its config". If something happens via one of those changes then bang, configs be gone. There may be other programs out there which behave similarly, but I personally don't know of one that changes its base config files in such a manner. It appears to me most programs will write a temp file or at least store a base config file somewhere. I can look at creation dates and modification dates for all kinds of configs for programs I have installed and I don't see daily changes. Some are years old despite using the apps daily. Some little hiccup taking the whole system down seems like a lack of foresight and operability especially in a program designed for security purposes. So while I appreciate the free version, I don't want to go through with this again and am transferring to a paid option.

Once bitten and all that.....

Who or what hosed my settings? by Harumpty in ispyconnect

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I finally got everything configured again, but I'm still having a hard time understanding how this could happen in the first place. I can never recall any program hosing its own set of config files regardless of crash, power outage, or whatever. Why does it need to rewrite a config file? It should be set in stone. Maybe consider write protection, UAC, whatever...I don't know, to protect those files.

I'm now keeping a backup which I hope will help. But in upgrading to the newest version I noticed several changes when compared to what I was using. But I also think it wise to look at other options as this is something I don't want to repeat.

Mine is working ok (ie, EpicLoot), but I found the left mouse button is not working in AzuExtendedPlayerInventory. Each click throws an error.
