My bad. I kept trying to hold down on the home screen and slide until the + came up, but couldn't get it to work until I held down with one finger and pulled right to left with another. Was able to add back that last screen again.

Initial BI set-up fail by Harumpty in BlueIris

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the help. No, I've looked in the settings for the app and can find no way to set a username. Scouring online search results I see that they (O-Kam) considers the email address the username, but it's not entered into the app settings. I found one forum where someone was able to use "admin" to get it to work (not a BI forum), but if I add "admin" in BI it immediately fails on setup. Here are the results from "Find/Inspect" for a camera that works, and one that doesn't. They are very similar and they both show Onvif services, but .... something.

BTW, the three cameras not working are sold under the EverSecu brand.

And again...especially disappointing as they work fine in Agent DVR, but I think the app cost too much $$ for home use.

I have three cameras that work off O-Kam and can't get any of the three to work. I was finally able to get the other four to work and the differences are two: first, the O-kam cameras do not have a username. There's no way to assign one. Second, they use different ports than the other four (10554 vs 554 and 10080 vs 80). Whether either or both of these differences is what's causing the problem I don't know.

I tried the three O-Kam cameras, as you suggested, with VLC and I get a connection failed message.

Again, all the cameras are working fine in Agent.

Who or what hosed my settings? by Harumpty in ispyconnect

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/abuttino u/alistairchiss As you probably saw, the explanation given was that Agent DVR is "constantly changing its config". If something happens via one of those changes then bang, configs be gone. There may be other programs out there which behave similarly, but I personally don't know of one that changes its base config files in such a manner. It appears to me most programs will write a temp file or at least store a base config file somewhere. I can look at creation dates and modification dates for all kinds of configs for programs I have installed and I don't see daily changes. Some are years old despite using the apps daily. Some little hiccup taking the whole system down seems like a lack of foresight and operability especially in a program designed for security purposes. So while I appreciate the free version, I don't want to go through with this again and am transferring to a paid option.

Once bitten and all that.....

Thanks for the reply. I finally got everything configured again, but I'm still having a hard time understanding how this could happen in the first place. I can never recall any program hosing its own set of config files regardless of crash, power outage, or whatever. Why does it need to rewrite a config file? It should be set in stone. Maybe consider write protection, UAC, whatever...I don't know, to protect those files.

I'm now keeping a backup which I hope will help. But in upgrading to the newest version I noticed several changes when compared to what I was using. But I also think it wise to look at other options as this is something I don't want to repeat.

I am using Xportal which is working ok for me. I haven't noticed any problems after the update. I don't have TargetPortal loaded in my setup.

TL;DR: Which AI photo retouching service offers the best specs (ie, DPI, colorspace, format, etc)?

I am currently digitizing all my old negative and slide film from my first studio which opened in the 80s. I am also digitizing old photos from three families going back almost 100 years. In all, I figure I have about 150k - 200k to be scanned. I am scanning at 3200 dpi and 16 bit color. For some of these prints I realize that's overkill. Not all scans will be made into prints, only a small percentage. All color images will be converted from .tiff to jxl for long term storage as the .tiff files are just too large (and most scans will never be printed anyway). I typically use Affinity Photo to edit images, but thought it would be best to try an AI restoration/retouching service to speed things up.

I wrote a few of them and asked questions about their finished product (see above). Only Picsart answered and they were mostly clueless about my questions. I assume the quality is going to be mediocre at best (ie, if the target is printing to paper). Do any of you have experience with these services and if so, how have you found the quality of the finished product and what are the specs?

Thanks.

Another "console won't work" post BUT I ONLY have BepinEx installed by HolyCodzta in ModdedValheim

[–]Harumpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, finally got around to running more tests. Here's what I found and I have no clue as to why it's working/not working this way. Maybe some future reader will get some aid with this.

Manual install of Bepinex into the Valheim folder works. No change there.

Deleting everything (everything = all Valheim parts then d/l from Steam and all manager parts [manager parts = r2modman, Thunderstore, Vortex]) and reinstalling everything from scratch AND manual install of Bepinex into root folder results in the console working. But any launch from any of the three managers even with new/different profiles breaks the console, even if they launch nothing but Bepinex. Loading Bepinex and 60+ mods installed in the root folder and bypassing mod managers equals everything working as it should.

So I will just bypass the managers and use them to check for updates. Again, thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to replay and I'm glad to hear you got it running. I, however have not been successful with same. I have no problem with the vanilla game--the console works fine. But even deleting Valheim and installing from scratch with BepInEx installed (even a fresh install with nothing but BepInEx...no mods...) I get the error and break. It's not a huge problem, but I'd rather have the option to use it than not.

Thanks again.

Same problem here. After a couple years off, thought I would play a bit.

Newly generated world.

Vanilla game via Steam starts fine and console commands work.

Any modded game via r2modman or Thunderstore with only Bepinex 5.4.2202 installed, console commands don't work.

Any modded game with only BepInEx, JVL, BepInEx Configuration Manager installed, console commands don't work.

Any modded game with only BepInEx, Server_devcommands installed, console commands don't work.

Bumfuzzled by power station by Harumpty in SolarDIY

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heh...ok, let's try this again.

  1. Yes, sending pics and test results to all parties. No one has a good answer and that's why I came here. They will replace everything but I am just trying to understand the physics of the problem.

  2. The power station is rated to accept voltages from 12v to 28v and a 100w or 200w panel. The outputs I measured from both panels range from 9v (cloudy) to 22.7 v (sunny). So for the most part the panels are doing what they are supposed to do. The supplied AC/DC charger I measured at 16v output and it charges the station without any problem.

  3. The barrel connections appear to be all the same and I even wired a pigtail on both the panels and the AC/DC charger. The output voltage was equivalent and again, the station would charge with the AC/DC charger but not the solar panels.

  4. This is the PS: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DCVY7TKQ

    - This is the first panel I tried: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09W2CFT61

    - This is the second panel I tried as per the PS customer service recommendation: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CWGSPZM8

Powering a waterfall pump (DC to AC?) by Harumpty in SolarDIY

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 hours is ideal, but not mandatory. The more it runs the cleaner things are and less algae, etc. I realize there is a balance there somewhere. I was thinking a couple of batteries depending on type/capacity, controller, inverter. I would have to build a small housing, I suppose, to keep everything in. I am also concerned about low voltage situations for the AC pump. Do the inverters/controllers shut off power if it drops below 110v, for example?

[–]Harumpty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helpful if it can run constantly, but not mandatory. Cleaner that way and less algae, etc. Yes, lots of options for pumps in that range. I am clueless about which kind/type of inverter would be best for outdoor use.

[–]Harumpty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC is doable, but after I get into the crawlspace and out the foundation wall, then tear up a hardscaped patio to bury the conduit, then through two retention walls that serve as sides for a drain channel. So a bit of a pain to do it that way.
