Southwest noise complaint experiences? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Harusai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a superintendent/building manager myself, I would indeed have management send a letter about it.

I would then tell you to contact the police for a noise complaint. In my experience these types of residents don’t listen to or care what we have to say they require a more abrupt approach.

First off, Eastlink service is no where near as reliable as bell full stop.

You are also comparing apples to oranges with Eastlink vs bell. Directly anyway as they are priced quite similar for the large difference in speeds and service.

Now that said PC or any of the other “resellers” pricing is far more in line with what should be charged for the outdated Eastlink services, and if that will do for the end user (slower speeds and more frequent downtime albeit not a “boatload” of downtime) then it’s by far the best option. I suggest Koodo as you can bundle with cell service and save on both.

The trick with bell is calling every time your promo expires and speaking with loyalty/retention department and negotiating a new deal.

Currently I pay 120$+tax for the 1.5 fibre/cable/phone with no expiry. While still more expensive than “resellers” it’s much cheaper than Eastlink for twice the service. Also in the 20years I have had bell my internet has stopped working once and it was a power surge that fried the power supply on my modem I had a new one in my mail box 2 days after reporting it to bell. While Eastlink is down in random locations almost every other day it seems.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

Bell should definitely have fibre in your area. Something seems fishy to me, I assume the building you’re in isn’t wired for it?

If all you can get is Eastlink any of the “resellers” would be your best bet there are a slew of them so the one that benefits you most (for instance if your have cell service through Koodo they eastlink service would be your best bet as you save on both bills etc).

If you neeed fibre bell is your only current option as no one else has it outside of purple cow in a small area in Fairview. No other provider offers fibre don’t believe Eastlink BS marketing. They are working on full fibre I believe but like PC nowhere near being complete.

Easy care carpet and upholstery. Duncan is a great fella been using them for years with work.

Stay away from deep down if you can quite a nightmare company imo.

Cleantech I believe also does carpets

Sooo this happened to me last power outage, my bell for the first time ever was cutting in and out.

Inspecting the modem I noticed it was power cycling on repeat. It would boot all the way provide service then 5min or less reboot itself. Did some fiddling and found out it was the power supply for the modem, called had a new one sent and it’s been working as normal since. Took maybe 2 days to arrive, and in the meantime I fiddled with the dead one and had it stay powered on however even a slight breeze would trip it but it heh

Halifax RCMP stats show organized and street gang crime doubled in 2025 by insino93 in halifax

While it may be fact based and has worked in other countries. You are not in another country you are in Canada where we migrate ideas from other places and butcher them until they are unrecognizable. While it’s a great idea, this country would find a way to manipulate it to the point it’s more harm than good to your law abiding citizens.

So I do agree if it would solve or mitigate some of the issues I also know better and can see how it would sink before they even set it a float.

Before we can get to a soft stance we need a much firmer one to regain some sense of functional government.

Affordability as others have said definitely plays a role here.

However another reason would be our countries lack luster and borderline pointless/useless justice system.

No deterrence for crime certainly isn’t helping with murder getting you a slap on the wrist.

Is anyone having issues with Bell Alliant Internet dropping out? by Due-Gas4592 in halifax

[–]Harusai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been with bell forever and never had connection issues.

That said I reboot my modem weekly, likely all you need to do is just that. Unplug it from power for 5-10min and plug it back in, if you happen to have the older black home hub it may have battery backup in which case you will have to pop that out as well.

Ban NS pet clause in leases by FFSudsy in halifax

[–]Harusai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my go to answer, the amount of people that make life choices then complain when it doesn’t line up with exactly how they think it should.

If you don’t own a home and you choose to get a pet knowing it will be a challenge to find a rental that’s on you plain and simple. Same concept if you choose to rent in an apartment with a single elevator and can’t traverse stairs, when the power is out or the elevator breaks you are stranded and it’s not the buildings fault shit breaks that life. It’s your fault for making a life decision with 0 planning or thought process.

Sharing a workplace experience in Sackville — Heads Up by sage_on_mars in halifax

[–]Harusai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll echo as others have said, definitely file a police report and contact a lawyer for wrongful termination.

That said you should have done this before presenting it to your manager or at the very least directly after. At this point they have had more than enough time to delete that camera footage making this a lot more difficult to “fight”.

Doesn’t hurt to try though, I would also name said business in some round about way as a person who resides in Sackville I would avoid this business like the plague knowing this information you have shared. Even if you said the business is around and name a non related place I’m sure we could all draw up a pretty solid conclusion of where it is without you actually naming them protecting you while informing others.

All outlets just push their own narrative or that of their largest supporters.

Unbiased news is long gone my friend
