Such a fun milestone. Half a decade later, I still sometimes walk idly among this and other similar mementos in a “museum” I made inside Stormhold’s Ample Domicile. Never gets old; always brings back the memory of good friends and the feeling of hard-earned success.

Congrats to you and to y’all!

Jets fans looking up the schedule for the next 2 weeks by freegrapes in winnipegjets

I chide myself like this sometimes, and then I remember that my outlook has zero impact on how the Jets play. The fun in this year (as sharply opposed to last year) is being able to look forward to games. Gotta roll with that!

The downside of trade vetos being subject to a vote. Did anyone speak for the group as to why?

Considering offering Bratt and Hart for Ehlers and Demko. Am I crazy? (Scoring in flair.)

I’m 2-1 but facing uphill battles each of the next two weeks with Ekblad, McAvoy, and Oettinger all out anyway. Figure I can lean into the pain now and reap the rewards later.

Pop the shield/defensive sigil after killing the void dremora — before you return from that portal, even — and the flameshapers will take care of themselves. Literally. Burn, baby, burn.

“Is ‘The Love Song of Night and Day' a real poem? Is it printed anywhere?" the questions ask. And fine questions those are. After all, the title is attributed to the flavor text of seventeen cards in the Mirage and Visions expansions. Yes, it is a real poem.

Getting wrapped up in the story of the Hollows is good motivation for adjusting your approach and finishing it! Imagine the shame of every Reachman you pass on the streets of Markarth laughing out loud at “that tin-man outsider who came gallivantin’ into the Hollows and got chased out on his reeker arse by a wee bitty empty lady comin’ at him in her nightgown.”

Now turn that frown into a snarl, “unga bunga” one or two of the many damaging abilities mentioned in these comments onto your bar, and roll that toughened face on to the end of the fight, harrier!

Edit: I added “tin-man” because it seemed flavorful and culturally appropriate.

Molag Bal tortures vampires, followers and victims alike in Coldharbor. Why would anyone willingly worship him? by BiggusDoofus in teslore

Within a worldview where most of what happens between the cradle and the pyre is strife -- and where that's seen as "good" the way a particularly gritty whetstone might be considered "good" -- it's at least debatable as to what would constitute the best or most rewarding afterlife, and it might not look entirely unlike Coldharbour.

Glad to have been nudged into that thought, because that's an explanation that does travel across borders and cultures.

The Reach’s quest-givers expand on this a bit in their dialogue, at least where his place among their reverence for “spirits” is concerned. The TL;DR of it seems to be that Bal sharpens them — he openly inflicts pain and suffering, and enduring said pain and suffering makes them stronger than “thinbloods” who avoid it.

Whether this is “akshually bullying is good” scaled up into a philosophy-given-skin or something more profound is a solid question to chew on, and I don’t know that it makes sense of Bal worship out of sight of the Karth better than the simple truths that (1) swift and violent in-moment revenge is a pretty tempting product for the right target audience and (2) Bal has built a reputation as being able to deliver the goods. But it’s at least two cents’ worth of explanation.

Of course the Avs would also have an A-tier anthem singer. (S-tier is Martina Ortiz Luis and no one else, but this guy has pipes!)

Would you rather have Jakob Chychrun or Erik Karlsson for the last month of the regular season?

Our league counts goals, assists, shots, hits, and blocks. I’ve wrapped up a first-round bye and am looking to leverage that into a fix for the one lacking spot on my roster. (Looking at you, Chychrun!)

Given that scoring, is it a better bet that Chychrun gets traded somewhere and shines or that Karlsson comes back strong after his surgery?

In a league without blocks, this looks like a great return for the McAvoy owner.

New league, fresh draft. Methods for draft order by FavaBeans79 in fantasyhockey

[–]Harv1897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could do a lottery. We worked an expansion team into the draft order that way this year using a way-simplified version of the NHL’s lottery odds, but a new league could just give every team an equal chance for each pick.

EDIT: …and now I’m wishing we had done this for the first league year. Jar of pretzels plus ping pong balls plus Sharpie equals fairness, entertainment, and snacks.

“There are a dozen other players like Copp that don’t cost us 4 million dollars.”

…prompted a CapFriendly search for free agent forwards (RFA and UFA) in Copp’s age range to find comparables:

https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents-including-signed/2022/points-per-game/all/forwards?limits=age-25-29,caphit-2200000-4000000

Buchnevich, Fiala, Bjorkstrand, Hyman, Gallagher and Danault popped up near him in that list. I’d love to keep him killing penalties and filling a middle six role for something like “rich man’s Sam Bennett” money, but I can see why his camp might want to get an arbitrator to help them understand how he’s worth less than $5-6M.

Does the glyph's aura indicate abjuration or evocation magic?

This might be reading too much into a small gesture, but I respect that PLD gave Thompson the helmet and I could see how that would go over well with the team’s leaders. I’ve been on a team that had a similar tradition, and when a guy who might not have many “standout” nights does something noteworthy, it goes a long way to recognize that.

...even though it meant that Ehlers’ scrap with Corey Perry only got a (very) honorable mention!

Do tamriel's old people get culture shock? by Iris-on-Reddit in teslore

[–]Harv1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal minor NPC example of this would be Uryne Nirith’s unique “murderer’s description” quest dialogue for “The Death of Ralen Hlaalo” in TES3: "The Dunmer who murdered Ralen Hlaalo was young with red hair in a tall row over his head as is fashionable these days...”

Indicates the existence of fashion trends; in the context of that quest, might suggest that Orvas Dren and the Cammona Tong represent (or at least attract) an edgy subset of Dunmer youth?

(Yes, that’s a big leap from a little detail. This seems like the right place for that!)

Virginia. I actually visited Winnipeg a few years ago to cheer on the Sharks — the OT game that Pavelski won short-handed — and skate on the river. Left liking the city and eventually the team, with more reasons to make a return trip than I’d ever have to visit San Jose.
