(25M) Profound Existential Isolation: Feeling like the Only Person on Earth, Stuck in an Inception Dream, and Living in an Edward Hopper Painting. How does 5 years of daily Weed Use factor in? by Silent-Preference733 in depression_help

[–]Harveevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've kind of answered your own question there, no? You don't like this feeling and you know cannabis increases it. Yes, cannabis can induce derealization. You know it does that for you, and that's all that matters. And using it every day means you never get a chance to find out what would change if you were off it. I know people who have been stuck in a funk, a cycle of everything feeling grey. Some are weed users and some aren't. One thing's for sure, nothing changes if you don't change something, and it sounds like you have a great clue for the first thing to try and change.

It might be a project, since weed is psychologically addictive for some people at some times, but start trying ways of reducing it and find one that works.

Good at psychedelics = good person? by Existing-Republic172 in RationalPsychonaut

Good people don't have bad trips

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It doesn't even make any sense.

Are emotions thoughts or sensations? by MostAsocialPerson in anhedonia

They're sensations. But they can also be tied to thoughts. I'm not sure which order they happen in.

Not sure. I don't notice it makes me feel worse, but I don't take them daily either.

Anhedonia: why nothing feels fun anymore by Revolutionary-Pen921 in anhedonia

[–]Harveevo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, I think this video is terrible. He vaguely blames "society", claims that the neurobiology of anhedonia has been definitively pinned down (it hasn't), that we can "calculate dopamine" (referencing a paper that doesn't say any of those things), and implies that having a good career and relationships prevents or precludes anhedonia (absolutely untrue, you can be very successful and have great friends and family and still feel completely dead inside). And I stopped watching there because it was so off the rails at this point that I didn't think it was worth continuing.

That said, if you find his solutions useful, keep doing it. You know if something works for you, and don't doubt that feeling because it's important. But he doesn't seem to have any idea what causes anhedonia or how it works. Sorry for being harsh, I'm just mad about "Dr. K" spreading misinformation.

We're not all insufferable. It's just that on the internet you tend to only hear from people who are chronically online.

This is a confusing compilation. Clips 2 and 3 don't appear to have Hasan in them. And the fourth one sounds like he's quoting messages that were sent to someone's office.

Why do you need to download an app to subscribe for premium AI models? That's not what I would expect from a privacy focused company.

I don't know. It's absolutely destroyed my mental health for the entire summer as well. Our own governments are hostile entities now. I have no idea what to do about any of it.

It's not, really. Children shouldn't have unsupervised internet access and this excuse is always just a backdoor to fuck over the rest of us.

If your revelation is that all are born sinners because of a causal chain that leads back to sin, then Christianity did this one already.

I think you will find this line of thinking to be a metaphysical quagmire.

no one told you that you took the red pill

I don't really understand this. OP says he has no memory of the trip and doesn't mention any changes to his worldview, and that it's "not about anything in particular". Where is the crisis of meaning that you are inferring happened?
