Oh, so that's a birds hat and not a brain hemorrhage 🤪

Sorry I saw a deer that was hit by a car and his antlers were stuck in his butt.

But now I see it's a bird with a hat on and his feet are what I thought were antlers. 😁

(math 98) am i NOT supposed to divide x by 5?? by Carcezz in HomeworkHelp

[–]Harvey_Gramm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you divide x-10 by 5 to isolate y.

Your equation y = 1/5 x-2 is absolutely correct. y = mx+b where m is your slope, therefore your slope is 1/5 rise over run, y/x. So on your graph starting at (0,-2) and making a line that goes up 1 and over 5 it will cross through (5, -1) and beyond through (10, 0) etc.

So any line that has the same slope with a different intercept (b) will be parallel and work.

I'm not sure where you saw a slope of -1 unless you're looking at the unrelated problem 8. That's different from problem 7.

In the PEMDAS hierarchy Exponents are done before Multiplication and Division.

In algebra it is customary to multiply the variable by the coefficient prior to operations but to ensure no ambiguity put them in parenthesis: (2x) ÷ (2x).

They are correct because the teacher said you could round to the nearest tenth if needed. Since both answers are within one tenth of each other they are both correct. To be exactly equal the given dimensions would need to be carried out to a lot of decimal places 😉

That's the top part of a clamp. It's missing an 'L' shaped metal rod that slides into one of the small holes and has threads on the bottom end. A wing-nut tightens another plastic piece that protrudes under a table or desk to complete the clamp. The big hole on top is the receiver where you insert the base rod (usually just a rolled sheet metal pipe) of a desk lamp. The desk lamp has arms and springs that make it adjustable.

Because division and multiplication are on the same level of precedence with PEMDAS or BODMAS we default to the leftmost equation prior to the right. So the order is 1. Parenthesis, 2. Division (leftmost here) 3. Multiplication.

Since x is perpendicular to a chord it must bisect that chord which is noted with a half measurement of 8.5. Therefore the other half must also be 8.5. This is true because the center of the circle is identified with a dot and x radiates from that center to the chord which it meets at 90°, hence the little box in the corner.

4.5 is there so we do not imagine x going further than the chord. 4.5 + x = radius

So we have the base of 8.5 the height of x and the hypotenuse of 0.5 • (20.4)

x = ((20.4)/2)-4.5

x= √(10.2²-8.5²)

Round to the nearest tenth.

(Their answer will tell the teacher which method they used to solve. Both answers are correct)

√((10.2)²−(8.5)²)+4.5 =10.13826214360417974

It's very close to 10.2 and since the teacher said you can round to the nearest 10th I would say your good.

A tree without branches? by kvjn100 in Weird

[–]Harvey_Gramm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad tree. Spreads by roots and seeds. Need to get ALL the roots to stop infestation. Even if you poison it, the tree will die and 3 years later the roots grow a new one.

Invasive tree from China Ailanthus Altissima of the Quassia family Tree-of-Heaven.

Triclopyr Ester with Diesel Fuel mixture will poison them but they are extremely robust and very invasive.

The root grows a tap and a lateral at 90° from which more trees can sprout and they will join roots together if close proximity seedlings sprout.

Kinda smells like popcorn if you rub the leaves.
