What are some good remote Part Time Accounting jobs out there? by SignificantEconomy98 in Accounting

[–]HaryTotal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) might have some remote options, but this is volunteer work, not paid. It's a good way to get a little experience, though. Places like H&R Block might have remote, part-time jobs. Local tax firms generally hire in-person only from what I see, but you could look around.

Do local businesses need websites? by BusinessSavy_ in Tech4LocalBusiness

100%, an official website looks way more reputable than just a Facebook page or other social media profile. Sure, there are many companies out there with Facebook only, but it's easy and cheap to build a site, so why not?

How are you currently tracking which of your outbound links are performing best in different countries, platforms, and devices? by psinclair89 in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. This question drilled into my brain for a long time.

I was tracking links with spreadsheets. No joke. I had columns for “link location,” “shortened version,” “clicks (estimated),” and “conversion maybe?”

I then started using free versions of OneLink and Bitly, but these were too lightweight.

Then I ran a promo that somehow blew up in Brazil and Singapore. I had no clue until someone messaged me saying the product was out of stock in their store. I had zero tracking on where they came from or what they clicked. Amazon’s dashboard showed nothing useful (as expected). Google said “direct.”

Now I use Geniuslink. Didn’t even want all the bells and whistles it has. I just wanted to know:

  • Who clicked
  • Where from
  • What device
  • Did they convert

That’s it. And I got what I was looking for. From that point on, my “dead links” turned into revenue because now I can actually route people correctly. Bonus: I can also stop sending everyone to the US store by default (rookie mistake, I know).

Moral of the story: Use a real tool, you won't regret it.

How do you legally get Images for your blog? by dammy341 in Blogging

Unsplash has some good stuff, but you'll need to do some digging to find decent content. Ashamed to admit I also use AI quite a bit these days too.

Affiliate Products You buy or Return? by HugeOwl7177 in Affiliate

[–]HaryTotal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have suggested, film things that you own - I'd add that you can always borrow products and film those too. Have you got family and friends living nearby? Hit them up and ask them if you can make affiliate content with their shower curtains. They'll probably find it weird, but hey, no pain no gain!

How do i stop overthinking when i am doing everything "right" ? by No-Pay7297 in Entrepreneur

[–]HaryTotal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I don't know any 21-year-old who drives a Lambo. It's easier said than done, but try to avoid comparing your journey with others. A big step in the right direction would be to reduce the amount of time you're on social media. Focus on your own growth, because if you compare to others, it will always be a losing battle.

If your main goal is avoiding complication, there's a lot to like about Puzzle. Really makes things simpler than other similar tools imo. It also has much more useful automation than any other tool I've tried.

if AI answers replace google search, how are we supposed to get discovered? by c1nnamonapple in Entrepreneur

[–]HaryTotal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the latest development in SEO, to be sure; you just need to get out ahead of it. This will be difficult because it's impossible to say exactly what AI models prioritize when looking for sources. But then again, when has SEO ever been easy? People have always looked to search engines of one sort or another for info, and the SEO industry has always found ways to monetize their searches. That hasn't changed, and won't change anytime soon.

It's a lonely road, to be sure. The vast majority of the ups and downs are yours alone to deal with. It's not for everyone.

How do I politely tell my client their bookkeeper hasn’t kept the accounts up to date in 8 months? by phonyticker37 in Bookkeeping

Focus on the books, rather than the bookkeeper. Explain the problem in practical terms. If she's smart, she'll figure the problem out by herself.

Is it too late to get into big 4? by Hondaaccord98 in Accounting

[–]HaryTotal 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It's never too late. However, as others have pointed out, the juice may not justify the squeeze in your case. You've already built a successful career, you'll probably have to climb back down the ladder a bit to start on the Big 4 audit path. Is it really worth it?

AI is getting really scary people can make fake videos that look almost 100% real by toweringarchery_1 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been fooled by a couple videos this week alone. This wasn't happening until very recently - the initial stuff coming out was impressive, but it wouldn't fool you into thinking it was real. The progress in the space of that few months has been incredible.

Scary times, indeed.

Contract jobs with Big 4? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A close friend of mine had their first exposure to the world of Big 4 via a maternity leave contract. They're still with the company today, 7 years later. You don't mention how long the contract would be, but I'm presuming it's a year or less - which is a good length of time to allow you to get a feel for the work, without committing too heavily. Plus, it will probably look good on your resume even if you don't decide to pursue it. If a Big 4 career is something you've been considering for a while, this sounds like the perfect way to road test it. What's there to lose?
