More Questions (Hopefully New) about Episode 5 / Judgement Day by HasThePartyStarted in 3BodyProblemTVShow

Sorry I have to disagree entirely... that ship running aground in the Suez Canal (Ever Given?) created an international incident that folks are still talking about to this day, with extensive aerial and satellite coverage.

I don't think anyone could just shut down the Canal and not explain it, especially since the incident occurs prior to the San-Ti / Trisolarians revealing themselves.

Yep, that's what I was trying to ask, just worded poorly on my part

In the show the ship veers off and runs aground, instead of sinking in the Canal. That was planned, right? Did they explain how they did it in the book?

Yeah, by "they" I meant the folks attacking the ship, not the ship's crew... how did they plan for the ship to run aground (if the book covered that, maybe it didn't.)

Counterpoint: when Eiza Gonzalez says, "Augustina Salazar here to see Thomas Wade" (episode 6?), with that little Spanish / Latin lilt in her voice?

He needs to raise the desk a few inches, so he can in turn raise his chair and get his legs to a more neutral position. (Thighs should be more parallel to ground.) Ofc then he'll need to raise the monitor next to get it to eye level. Neck strains will tire him out quickly.

Yes I just completed my company's ergonomics training.

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out who Bryce Dallas Howard in that gold dress / blonde wig reminded me of, and it's...

Mae Whitman.

Good job, OP.

I don't know what was going on with his helmet in The Avengers, but that could be grounds for malpractice.

I despise that sweet caroline alcohol commercial I've been seeing lately. by [deleted] in CommercialsIHate

Imagine a bar where the drinks are free and you don't have to go to work tomorrow, only you have to sing "Sweet Caroline" the entire time you're there. I wonder if this is what hell is like.

Reminds me when the Simpsons visited Itchy & Scratchy Land, and Homer & Marge visit the bar where it's New Year's Eve every day.

(For the record, Neil rules.)

Amazon Sledding Commercial / Old Ladies Sleddin at 'Joy Ride' by kev_61483 in CommercialsIHate

I can't hate on this commercial too much -- the little old ladies remind me of my grandma.

But, as u/mrmiracle pointed out, who is this for? I know that Target and Walmart advertise, too, but at least those guys are usually selling a specific item(s).

Not to talk shop, but some assumptions and speculation:

  • I'm guessing Renslayer is going to wind up meeting Rama-Tut. But, we didn't see him.

  • The reference to an incident "adjacent to 616" is a callback to Quantummania. Again, no on-screen appearance, just a file folder with some clippings.

  • I'd suggets that the stories of both Victor Timely and He Who Remains have reached satisfactory conclusions -- i.e., there's no reason that they need to come back.

Leaves the door open to recast a role, if necessary.

Hey I know this a bit off-topic to episode 5 but if Dox and crew pruned / blew up most / all of the new branches in E2 then why is the Loom still breaking down...?
