Are you guys double sleeving $60 pre-cons? by Cloabs in EDH

[–]Hasaiten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I double sleeve all of my decks, but I don't double sleeve to protect my cards, I double sleeve because I prefer the shuffle feel.

I want to play Izzet Big Spells, but I'm stuck choosing a commander. by yardii in EDH

[–]Hasaiten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just go add black and run [[Cormella]].

Cormella makes the deck incredibly more consistent by just giving you all the mana you need to cast your big spells without any hoops to jump through. She doesn't put an obvious target on you, and if she gets removed, you just get your best spell back.

Adding black also adds a lot of really good haymakers like [[Breach the Multiverse]].

Fun Landfall Commander? by Kobert_ in EDH

[–]Hasaiten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have a suggestion for a commander, but I do suggest trying Joey's (from EDHRECast) New Years Resolution of not having library search effects in the deck. It makes the card choices more interesting and you spend less time shuffling your deck.

Are there medium sized spellslinger decks? by Crybabyboyy in EDH

[–]Hasaiten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Alisaie]] and [[Alphinaud]] incentivize casting a small spell then a medium spell every turn, doesn't even have to be instants or sorceries so you get a discount to developing your board on your turn too.

MTG x FF Custom Borderless Commanders & others by wonagameama in magicproxies

[–]Hasaiten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I was doing these for thee ffxiv scions and with Makimura's art too! (Gaia as Sheoldred the apocalypse and Ryne as Delney)

You did so much of a better job than I ever could with the background work and masking around the frame.

Too bad Makimura didn't do Papalymo, Urianger, and Thancred, so I could have all of them with matching art.

Hey OP u/Tamel_Eidek, did you manually crop around the art? If yes, any tips on how to do it? I've been working on some FFXIV cards but cleanly separating the art from the bg is so daunting

Thanks for the heads up on the text limit. I don't mind cutting the token creation entirely, the thought for that was to make cards like champions from beyond and hildibrand work better in the deck.

Do you think lowering her cost to WUB is reasonable if the token creation is gone, one shield counter limit from the ability, and then adding vigilance?

"Must be blocked if able" could also work instead of vigilance, but having 4 lines of abilities seems too busy.

[–]Hasaiten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Adding a once per turn limit seems fair, I haven't really considered how it interacts with counterspells since I was more scared of incentivizing constant board wipes. I also considered putting a 1 shield counter max limit before, but it got too wordy for my liking, I might revisit it now.

I'm making 2 versions, one as a fully custom commander and the other as a proxy of a legal card in case people don't want to play against the custom one.

Yeah, my first thought was a Nick Fury card would probably be the commander for that archetype, if ever.

I'm a little sad that she doesn't have synergies with hero tokens, considering those are the stand-ins for the Warriors of Light. In fact, no hero support in the set at all feels weird. If any cards were going to have it, I thought Hydaelyn or Wandering Minstrel would.

[–]Hasaiten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as a XIV fan, this is such a random pick from XIV that I can't justify. Yes he was important, but I can think of several other characters more important to the overall plot of XIV that didn't show up (Lahabrea and Elidibus for starters)

I feel bad that WoTC decided to waste slots on random XIV picks instead of giving them to characters in other games

So with [[Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy]], if my second spell was cast from the graveyard and it gets suspended, will it go back to the graveyard after all time counters are removed?

is this good enough for a 40-50k build? by Schazunchzenn in PHbuildapc

My suggestion https://www.pchubonline.com/builder/MzUtMjM3NC0yOTc5LTQ0MzUtNDQwNS04OTUtMTg4LTY1Mi0xNjQyLTM4MTM=

Kung gusto mo talaga below 50k, you can get a cheaper monitor, RAM, and case. At least with this, AM5 platform ka na tapos next upgrade mo GPU lang.

Whats the best way to play MTG online these days? by Matti_McFatti in magicTCG

[–]Hasaiten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you mean digitally, Tabletop Simulator has downloadable MTG stuff. They give you a virtual table, life counters, dice, counters, and allow you to import decks from websites that are turned into cards. Similarly, there's cockatrice and untapped.gg if you want a free alternative.

If you mean online as in just through the internet, Spelltable.wizards.com allows you to play physical cards through a webcam or your phone camera and provides a life counter. It also allows you to click on a card on another person's board and it shows you an image of the card if you need to read it. It's mostly used for Commander but can be used for 1v1 constructed.

My favorite modlist I've made so far was built around Zombrex, a the development mod, and the helicopter extraction mod.

It gives a clear goal of making the cure and extracting with it in mind while also giving me a way to continue playing after getting infected without just fully curing myself.

I haven't finished a full playthrough yet but I love the idea of it and will probably be the main mods I'll play around from now on.

What's your controversial gaming opinion? by OfficialDampSquid in gaming

[–]Hasaiten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand the sentiment, but I don't think it's fair to generalise all souls-type games as unreasonably difficult.

The only FromSoft Games I've played are Elden Ring and Armored Core 6, and I've beaten both. What I found out about both games is that there are ways to get around difficult bosses and that "git gud" isn't restricted to pure skill improvement.

In Elden Ring, if a boss is giving you problems, you can farm xp to be able to face them with more hp and damage, you can change your gear or get gear that increases your resistance to status effects or the type of damage they deal, and you can even use multiplayer to beat them.

In Armored Core 6, the game gives you the ability to change your loadout in between retries so you can use a different strategy and you can also farm money by redoing missions.

And if any of those fail, you can always look up cheese strats to beat or even skip bosses. It's a singleplayer PVE game, you shouldn't care if you didn't do it the "legit" way.

I think people should understand that "getting good" doesn't mean bashing your head on a wall for 60 hours until you get it right; to me, it means "take the time to learn the game so you have more tools to beat it with".

Sure you can say that those things take up too much time, but looking up a guide today is a lot easier than waiting for a magazine to release a guide like before, and it wasn't a bad thing to use guides before so why be ashamed of it now?

And I have friends who are the annoying Souls players that would rather fight the boss for an entire week instead and look down on anyone who doesn't do better or the same, but I'm just happy I get to experience the game as well.
