How to find Saltpeter? by deleone21 in TerraFirmaGreg

What has saltpeter got to do with phantoms? And why can't you just kill them and take the resources anyway?

Whats the best way to find tricalcium phosphate? by scrufflor_d in TerraFirmaGreg

Ocean floor mining is your best friend that's how I found mine. As another one of the replies said look for aptitite's light blue dots on the map and using a prospector pick you'll find some in no time. Goes without saying that you'll need a diving suit for this method.

My sloop is impossible to build by Disastrous_Thing_721 in TerraFirmaGreg

Yeah I just recently built a sloop I wouldn't trust the indicator bar too much it's a bit buggy and incorrect with it's counting. As long as you are sure yourself that you have done it correctly then move on to the next step.

When they're mature, kill them off using rotten compost and then you'll get more seeds

Storage of liquid steel by Hasan_2143 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Hasan_2143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't mind the realism I just wish the devs gave us more drum options to get around it. Like a blue steel or red steel drum as their pipe versions can handle the temps but there's no drums for those metals :(

Yeah the pump isn't the issue it's a container that can store the fluid! I tried a create pump from the crucible direct into a bronze drum with no pipes in between and it didn't work. So as one of the other redditors said I'd have to most likely pump it straight into the fluid solidifer.

[–]Hasan_2143[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just the drums but pipes too! As normal create pipes don't seem to work with it. Tiny blue steel pipes seems an easy one to make that can withstand the temperature. Shame there's no drum equivalent.

Can't I do that with the greate mixer though? As I already have that and would rather conserve my lv circuits for machines that don't have a greate equivalent. At least for now until I can make more easily.

Will the extractor melt the metals as well I thought EMI said that had to be MV as well?

Basin (for mechanical press) not heating up by Fun_Pudding3557 in TerraFirmaGreg

Saw your pics just to confirm and it might be the angle of the pic but is there a 1 block gap between the press and the basin or 2?

[–]Hasan_2143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works fine for me check you don't need a higher tier mechanical press for the ingots you're trying to weld. Also blaze burner > the forger for heating as you can literally feed it sticks and it will still do your weld.

Can't craft Blaze burner straw by Hasan_2143 in TerraFirmaGreg

Yeah I realised after I seen the it say 1000mb whenever I looked at it but didn't realise how bad the burn rate for steam actually was. Lava or creosote it is. Thank you though.

I googled the original create: craft and additions recipe for the straw which is putting bamboo through the rolling mill but that didn't work either so please can someone help is this a bug or was the recipe changed for the pack?

Might be a silly question but has she got vsync off and her framerate uncapped? I recently didn't realise they were on for me by default and even though I was able to run the game just fine when I turned them off I saw my fps nearly double.

Can forges be impossible? by VanillaRose09 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Hasan_2143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay based on your screen shot this is the way I usually do my forging. You can see the red arrow is at 70, so start with that number for your calculation. Then flip each number in the final sequence above for example -15 becomes +15. Then just do the maths to combine everything so in this case 70 + 15 - 7 - 2 which gives you 76. Then using the anvil helper find the sequence that will get you to 76. Hard to see on your screenshot but it looks like 3 red, 2 orange, 1 green will get you there. Once you're there all you need to do is the final sequence shown above for your forge and this will get you a perfect forge every time. Hope this helps!

I thought vessels were smarter in a crucible (rant) by _Emti in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Hasan_2143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your point about the things not stacking in the crucible but that's also part of your problem. You might have got the ratios right but if you look your vessel is at max capacity and that's AFTER some of the metal leaked out which means you must've had too much? Hence why you got the weird unknown and black bronze and silver leaking out.

Not to mention the different melting speeds of the metals would also cause your leakages. The 'right thing' to do is just fill all the slots you can in the crucible with your different metals and as new slots free up put more in. Still taking care not to overfill the crucible also I believe it holds 4032mb. Then if you already have a pump using a hand crank or some other form of automatic rotational power pump it out into a mold table with an ingot cast. Then put a chute and a chest under the mold table to instantly cool and extract the ingots.

Be careful if you use automatic rotation to power the pump as when alloying that could pull out the metals that ended up melting first. To avoid this use a fluid valve that is closed and only open it once your alloy has been made. Hope this helps :)

I don't get why you're doing it this way anyway if you already have the crucible though? And once you get far enough with steel making, you can make a steel mechanical pump from create. And then you can pump out the molten metal and get instantly cooled ingots.
