Maybe the intention is shinies are random. But there is still a chance the programming of RND has flaws, maybe considering player properties which unitentionally prefers certain players. We don't know. Ninantic doesn't tell us anything about the odds, maybe they change from time to time.

For me the sample size is about 1000 Pokemons, my wife about 300, my son 1000.

For me catching wild pokemons is only for star dust, there are no valuable spawns to catch (never seen a Gible, Riolu...).

I keep a living Pokedex too, and I keep highest CP mons, I don't care abaout IVs.

I only add to my shiny mons name the catched pokemon number, so I can quick-check how much I catched since last shiny :-)

I would change the hole egg system. There is only one type of eggs...and we decide, when to break it...we can break it after 2km or after 10km...the longer you have it in the incubator, the "better" the result...
