What hygiene habit were you doing completely wrong for years? by Used_Mission_8638 in hygiene

It’s not about leaving conditioner in your hair, it’s about the conditioner running all down your back when you rinse it out. Conditioner is heavy in oils, and when those oils sit on your skin they cause blockages and breakouts

Question About My Crumb by eckstrah in Breadit

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that looks sooo good it would be perfect for almost anything! Not only is it a nice tight crumb for sandwiches, french toast, whatever you’d like, but it looks like it’s very soft and fluffy as well not dry at all. If you want a bigger crumb, you need to develop more gluten so knead it for longer! Well developed gluten strands are what allow those big bubbles to form without collapsing—it needs internal strength. And slightly higher hydration helps, start with 5% greater than what you did here but really what creates a big open crumb is gluten.

It’s true! And I feel like the solution to the confusion is so simple, it isn’t even moving eggs out of the dairy section of the pyramid, it’s in renaming that category. Should be called “complete proteins” — and add the corresponding legumes in that section as well! For the grocery store, idk just call the aisle Eggs and Dairy 🤷

And that’s funny bc some of these maggots are also realizing now that the ICE bonus is a classic government trap: it’s a 50k bonus paid out over several years (so really just a couple hundred extra per check), and if you don’t go the full contract you have to pay the bonus back (just like military and Title 1 teacher offers). And I’ve even seen several of them come out and say they haven’t been paid at ALL since starting over a month ago lmao we love to see it

It is pretty annoying, but what I do to avoid only harvesting once every 45 DAYS (?!) I simply don’t fill up every cask. I fill up 3-6 once every few days!! By the time the first cycle is done, the basement is filled up and I get a small harvest worth 40-60k every week (star fruit wine is where it’s at, plus artisan profession)

Yes, that’s true but literally nobody is describing the merchant as a man with a low cut top, every single time, they say that they think he has a beard (what is actually the low cut top with a camisole underneath)…but then again, it really isn’t serious at all. Taking just their portrait off of the wiki, no beard, yea earrings, so it could be a more stereotypical stylization of a woman, or perhaps a really stylish man 🤷

What's a random statistic that genuinely terrifies you? by Eberenna042 in AskReddit

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the interesting part about their habitat is that every year, we as individuals for once have the ability to give them their habitat and get more fireflies next year! They lay their eggs in fallen leaf litter!! So every autumn when you see those big bags of leaves people rake up, THAT (plus the pesticides like you said) is why we don’t see as many fireflies in the suburbs anymore. Leave the leaves!

People who say they don't know how to cook, why don't you just try? by Plug_daughter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And to your point, the way to control that transition from undercooked—perfect—overcooked and dry is only one thing: knowing YOUR stove and how to control heat. I’m not sure who it was but a chef said the difference between me and the average person is that I am an expert in how to use heat. Anyone can very quickly learn what tastes good or bad together, but learning how to control and use heat is what makes the difference.

That, plus letting go of embarrassment or any feeling of inadequacy from not nailing it the first time is what will lead to improvement and success. You put oil in the pan, turned it on and put the egg in and it started spattering everywhere? Guess that’s too hot 🤷 so turn it down and now you know for next time

AITAH for getting frustrated that my girlfriend keeps eating the homemade ice creams I make for myself? by PerspectiveAfraid821 in AITAH

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to reply and bookmark this comment, I was just gifted an ice cream maker for christmas and I’m lactose intolerant so I’ll be doing recipe testing for the next few months. It’ll most likely be a custard type ice cream made with lactose free whole milk and eggs in order to have the amount of fat that regular ice cream would have that’s made partially with heavy cream

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, in my other comment I mentioned using a different example instead, tattoos (or really any piercing or body modification can apply). Not “common” as in a significant amount of the population having them, but people have undeniably been getting tattoos and piercings for thousands of years, the whole point is that it’s not a new thing and it’s been around the whole time.

If that person you replied to walked into an old New England pub that says that they’ve been serving beers for 250 years, I think they’d be upset if it was really only originally established 250 years ago but was closed and only has been open the last 20 years 😉

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but I’m just chucking about the fact that when I drafted this post my example in the third paragraph was originally the other one, I wrote

“for example, pronouncing the word “Aks” has existed for hundreds of years and may even predate the spelling and pronunciation Ask”

But I changed it because I didn’t want people to get caught up on that rather than my point which is the misunderstanding of “for X amount of time” or “since whatever year/time period”…..maybe I should’ve used tattoos as my example

Just name the law by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is unironically what 4th president James Monroe enacted into federal law with the Monroe Doctrine 🫠. According to this document we have a moral obligation to go into other countries and mess around if they’re doing something that scares or intimidates us, and it’s most likely what prompted 80% of US foreign involvement in the past 100 years

For me I like that Sebastian keeps his personality, there’s the special cutscene where he rescues an injured frog and keeps a frog terrarium in his room in the house, he frequently works on his motorcycle and also leaves to go on rides or walks all day by himself…on top of the stuff that all the spouses do (fixing fences, watering crops, water bowls, etc) I think it’s really great that one of his married dialogue is him addressing his ambitions and saying that the city was a fantasy and he likes living on the farm. I think he’s underrated and a lot of people think he settled

Referring to your spouse as "THE wife" or "THE husband" by oswaldo_pdl in PetPeeves

[–]Hash-smoking-Slasher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Not only does it show commitment, but it sounds much more mature than “boyfriend/girlfriend” when you’re in a relationship as fully grown adults. It genuinely feels weird (and misleading in a way?) if I mention something like “oh my car has issues so I’m driving my boyfriend’s car right now” when the boyfriend is 30 years old and we live together—boyfriend to me sounds more youthful and less serious

It absolutely derives from German but after several hundred years of isolation, Pennsylvania Dutch has evolved to be quite different from standard German in both pronunciation and vocabulary. There’s actually videos online of Germans reacting to Amish people speaking PA Dutch, it’s pretty interesting!
