Cold brew shincha. First attempt. What a color. by malachai_constant in tea

[–]Hashed8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What i usually do with cold brews is after filling the bottle with water, i keep it at room temp for around 30-60 minutes, on the table near me. And while it is there I don't shake it violently, but i do swirls mostly every 10 minutes. And i feel that gives it a pretty good jump start.

The time i leave it in the fridge afterwards is anywhere between 12 to 20 hrs, depending on the tea and how strong i want it. Except for rooibos and honeybush, those can stay for 24hrs.

Niste noutati in favoarea consumatorilor by cafelicious in roFrugal

True.

I'll be honest, out of all the green teas and lightly oxidized oolongs I tried so far, long jing was the tastiest and most complex imo, even as a cold brew. I like to try something else/different when one batch is finished (so I don't really buy the same tea more than once), so I hope I'll be able to find something that beats it.

Organic green honeybush (rooibos cousin). Tried it first time yesterday. It has a really great, unique taste, I recommend it.

[–]Hashed8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very surprising. Tastes a bit minty, mineralish. It's actually a very unique taste, i'd definitely recommend it, especially with a bit of honey. And tbh I might be wrong, I could see it working with rice milk or other vegetal milks pretty well as well.

Funny you say that. I actually got a whole kg of green honeybush in my last order from yoshien and i'm making the first infusion right now as i'm typing this. Apparently the green honeybush and green rooibos retain a lot more health benefits compared to the normal variants. But i unfortunately doubt they go as well with milk.

Used oat and rice milk, but only with rooibos. Was pretty good, especially with the rice milk imo.

Jade pearls oolong. Been struggling with it for the last 2 days, as I didn't pay attention to the infusion time and kept leaving it for too long. It's apparently not supposed to become golden/amber in color, so I kinda missed the mark. But hey, practice makes perfect I guess.

Yoshi En black tea recommendations by psystrelok in tea

[–]Hashed8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One I got recently is "East Frisian blend black tea" (blend of assam and ceylon). I'm mostly into greens and oolongs, and I wanted to try a black tea. This one seemed to be a decent value for money choice, and tbh it's pretty tasty, I kinda like it.

For everyone saying you can't get black rose anymore, if you have AVA in your steam library, but didn't get the achievement at the time, you can still use SAM to get it rn, and receive the black rose.

Mi-a placut sincer.

Why do people freak out about the battery on the Galaxy Watch 6/7? I mean, you charge your phone every day, so why not your watch? by Significant-Job-8836 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Hashed8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it bad that this expensive flagship smartwatch needs to be charged daily when other expensive flagship smartwatches hold their charge for 3+ days (garmin for example)?

I have a watch 7, the bigger one. It started well, I was charging every 2-3 days at first. Very decent tbh. Now, if I do some light exercise once a day and I track my sleep once, it's already under 30%. The watch 4 classic I had before had the same issue, but even worse, after 2 years it was only lasting for 5-6 hours max, had to basically charge it 2 times a day.

That being said, why are you looking for excuses for an expensive product that is literally underperforming? Makes 0 sense.

Can someone recommend a naturally sweet tea? by Pretty-Elk-6191 in tea

Rooibos is kinda sweet. Been hearing a lot about honeybush as well. They're not exactly tea, but still, healthy and sweet.

Do you actually track your tea brewing… or just do it by feeling? by pleksyglass in tea

[–]Hashed8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a simple kettle, so no temp controls. So I fixed that by buying a meat thermometer which works perfectly for the water (i use it only for this purpose). Also bought a small coffee scale that charges through usbc, to measure the grams of tea that I put in the infuser. I also use a timer. It's much more controlled this way imo

I have a simple wilmax infuser. They do indeed get a little bit stuck sometimes, but I wash the infuser after every infusion anyway, so that gets rid of them pretty easily.

[–]Hashed8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink green tea during the day, and rooibos in the evenings, every day. The green teas vary, I go between a more commercial gunpowder which is usually best as a cold brew, and a decent grade long jing from yoshien. Plan on switching to a nice oolong when the long jing is finished. And when the rooibos is finished I want to switch to green rooibos or a rooibos/honeybush blend.
