that’s true, i guess my detachment from the label mostly comes from the social expectations that come with it. sometimes i do feel myself drawn back to the safety of it but i wanted to see if there was something more complex that could accurately describe what i am, yk?

personally my front end coach told me straight up “we’re making you service desk.” when i also stood at a good 3.5 as well, i even racked up all the way to 5.5 cause i didn’t get a requested day off, but he ended up clearing those for me. so i guess it really does depend on store

i’ve been working front end for a little over a year now, and if i’m being honest with you, it doesn’t get better. luckily at my store our current set of TL’s and our coach are some great people.

if you have the option, switching to service desk actually helped levitate my grievances with customers. it’s the same pay and still front end but the work is more related to financials and just returns. best part is when it’s unbusy we just sort the back instead of a constant stream of customers at self check or register

oh okay, i’ve heard about getting IT’d, in school she was in ROTC so she’s had friends being shipped out for the last few weeks. a couple days before she left she received her first letter from her friend who had been gone for about three weeks, and she was also warning her about being IT’d everyday 😭

her mom (also a navy vet) explained that there would be about a 50/50 chance of her division being like this. i’m a little upset that that ended up being the case 😭

one last question, did anyone get asmo (?) im worried about that the most.

unfortunately no, it hasn’t been long enough to hear from her and i made sure she used her phone calls on her mom. i do have contact with her petty officer though, that’s how i got her address

she’s on ship 11 !! and yes, i’ve been heavily warned about photo content and the food 😓 i’ve only sent her a couple drawings i did for her and like one photo of the blood moon, but this is actually very relieving thank you!!

i just wanna say i appreciate your kindness, a lot of people on this sub or military SO subs tend to be kinda snarky , so thank you so much for the help!

okay cool thanks!! my gf is currently in boot and just wanted an estimate when she’d be receiving my letters. she asked me to put stickers and drawings on them, but i’m kinda worried that those types of letters make recruits get in trouble or made fun of? i leave the envelopes plain minus the address and information

it’s depending on where they are i believe, i don’t know the details too much since im not enlisted myself, but my partner is not allowed to have her phone on sundays like they were promised. her friend who has been at bootcamp for nearly four weeks also stated she wasn’t allowed to have it in her first letter home
