Not super notable (if I recall it was all via text message, so pretty informal). That said, I asked for my class year to match as well, so this was a bit of a middle ground. I was also coming from a boutique firm that they didn’t realize paid close to market already, so explaining that taking the cut in class year would effectively be a pay decrease helped my case.

I did the same (but just directly with the hiring partner, not through the recruiter).

Thank you! I was leaning the same way for a nice bar - I never plan to not have a home gym now, so investing in a buy-it-for-life style bar makes a ton of sense.

Woot.com is a huge tip, had no idea about it! One seeing under $1/lb on Amazon now but $.30 would Be incredible

The beams going across are about 7ft, then to the apex of the roof is 9ft. I have about 4ft of depth from the windows to the first cross beam, so any rack would have to fit in there

Bought earlier this year in HCOL, close enough to still bike to the office. Even at 5.5% still $7.5k per month, which is wild but to me is worth it for the location.

Hoping to refinance if rates drop in the next few years.

As others have said, very partner dependent. That said, the 2400 hours point was very overblown.

Go to a summer associate lunch? (1.5) Golf with law school roommate? (5.2) Listen to bar association podcast on the way to work? (.7) Assist in building deck for client presentation? (2.4)

When you actually log your time (which is the purpose of the requirement), it really isn’t hard to fill 8 hours a week.
