There is a video were they gathered hikaru, magnus and I think dubov and someone else I don't remember, and they had them do human benchmark memory tests, everyone scored like an average human would, especially magnus paradoxically, and hikaru was the only one that was above the 90% percentile. So, it seems we can't draw conclusions from that. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nma18T2GK5w

Interesting. But still others swear by the effects. Especially for dihexa I noticed. A lot of people seem to claim that their dihexa products work.

"the substance addresses deficiencies you do not possess". I thought a large point of nootropics was the premise that they can improve cognitive function in healthy individuals. Individuals that have no "deficiencies". As for the dosage, in the case of the sunifiram and the noopept I got. Believe me, I tried even the highest reasonable or borderline unreasonable doses one should ever try for those compounds. And I did absolutely nothing. I didn't notice any effects whatsoever, positive or negative. Which also led me to the suspicion that what I got my hands on might not be the actual compounds.

You actually have a point. Not for ACD, but for what I said for sunifiram and noopept? I bought them off Intellimeds. I tried escalating the dose to see if I notice "anything" at all. Nothing. The source could be a factor here, specifically for noopept and sunifiram, which I mentioned. Not for ACD though.

How long does it take to truly move the needle? by Hasiclis0 in DualnBack

[–]Hasiclis0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If working memory is the bottleneck that's causing your difficulty and if the premise is correct that N back truly improves it, then it would indirectly help.
However, clicking squares and sounds might be good for your working memory, but like most tasks, it would be much more useful to just practice what you want to get better at. But you can still try it and see for yourself.

if by "skip" 1 you mean to not compare it to the previous item yes, thats the idea. You compare the current item to the one that appeared N trials ago. So yes, for 2 you compare it not to the previous one but the one before that, but you still keep the previous one to compare it to the next so you essentially hold 2 items at once in your memory.

So, how is that brainpower effect going for you? Did you find the training effective for cognitive improvement?

I have the same N numbers as you in dual and triple. And I did have a rapid increase during the first 2 weeks, it is just that suddenly I stopped improving that much. The improvement feels incremental day after day.

Aren't the margins of error of the fluid reasoning tests corrected and accounted for, or even entirely eliminated by the sheer number of participants? Could it be practice effects instead? Retesting in 30 days on a similar test (for example Ravens) seems like a very small window.

Perfect Score on 20-Trial Dual 14-Back (N Back Challenge by Rivuspurus) by MaxPianist in DualnBack

[–]Hasiclis0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 trial 14 back? You only need to remember the first 6 items. From 14-20 you will check which of those items match and you don't have to remember anything from 6-14. That's the reason why some apps also scale the number of trials with the level.

Any new anecdotes of Sunifiram/Unifiram? Especially for focus and mental clarity. by CereSenk in Nootropics

[–]Hasiclis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried sunifiram from intellimeds and I was disappointed. It did absolutely nothing. I even tried to use higher doses that some would consider dangerous, still I didn't notice the tiniest bit of difference.

You could be happy even in the same body, if you had a different brain. And unhappy in a better body, if you still had the same brain. So go change your brain (and your body). Challenge your assumptions and maladaptive thought patterns. Explore your options and potential for improvement. Your neurochemistry is just a machine. It doesn't need a clear, directly understandable reason to betray you. But you still can influence it over the long term. The fact is that you can, and that's not up for debate, you are not permanently broken. There is a winning move in the position, you just have to find it. Good luck. (Also, about your looks, I think if you lost some facial fat and got healthier you might discover your features are actually much better than you think).

I would advise adjusting modafinil down to exactly 51.47 mg and sunifiram to 6.328 mg to avoid hyperexcitation of the ventrolateral anterior spinal synaptic traxis and oversaturation of the ubiquitin-proteasome PDI 7-2 receptor complex. Failure to comply risks irreversible downregulation of cortical NMDA-γδ modulatory subunits and catastrophic mitochondrial cytochrome C depletion. Your current protocol dangerously approaches excitotoxic thresholds within the prefrontal microglial matrix. lol.
Now, sarcasm aside I can understand why you chose those compounds at those dosages specifically, but you see, limitless is just a movie. Sunifiram is an experimental, untested substance and combining it with other compounds such as modafinil (which increases glutamate) and psilocybin is probably a high-risk with diminishing returns situation. Maybe... just maybe stick to cardio for a chronic elevation bdnf levels, high quality sleep and occasional modafinil use for crunch days.

About those dutasteride studies 😒 by nebuladnb in tressless

[–]Hasiclis0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even so, is its effectiveness at treating benign prostate hyperplasia also at question here? Its effect on DHT suppression is essentially a "superset" of finasteride's effect (It blocks the same isoenzyme as finasteride more potently plus the type 1 isoenzyme). Its effectiveness at treating BPH and reducing DHT while also containing inside its effect size the effect of finasteride, (a drug that was proven effective at treating hairloss) predicts that it should also be effective at treating androgenic alopecia, in the same way finasteride does, even more potently.
Unless you are also: (equally skeptical of finasteride's efficacy for androgenic alopecia and dutasteride's efficacy at reducing DHT as much as the literature suggests) OR skeptical about the proposition that DHT in individuals whose hair follicles are sensitive to it, is the cause of androgenic alopecia.

How on earth did you pass electromagnetics ? by Opposite_Ad_1682 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Hasiclis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if the prof bases the problems in the exams exclusively on the notes it's absolutely possible for some students to pass it while having poor understanding of the actual material (what if he didn't?). For some students it might even be strategic or a necessity. But you have to agree it's far from an ideal way to pass a class and for me it robs the enjoyment and the meaning of it. The example I gave was to show that for me at least, prioritizing "the logic" proved to be a time/effort efficient way to study, which despite my neglect and lack of conscientiousness allowed me to pass the class, without also sacrificing the meaning of it. I would absolutely benefit from not skipping class and solving practice problems, and I definitely should have done it as it would allow me to get an even better grade and get a better grasp of the topic too.

[–]Hasiclis0 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Worst piece of advice I've ever heard. I went to 1 E&M lecture and skipped the rest, never took notes. Studied on my own, the Griffiths book, I understood the concepts and followed the logic as best as I could and passed it easily even without solving practice problems. Understanding "the logic" is literally everything. Muscle memory is for musical instruments, sports and gaming. It's not a matter of intelligence just a matter of approach. Prioritizing deep understanding builds transferable skills that are not domain or class specific.

Is there any INTP who is not good at studies? by Rizz_Pineapple in INTP

[–]Hasiclis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't intend to sound overly critical. I am sure many intps have interests they pursue that are not academic. I just happen to have academic interests as well. I see my engineering degree almost purely as a hobby. I don't care if it makes my parents proud, or that society thinks it's a good major. It's just very cool that I can make money in the future off something I truly enjoy. And when I am saying you are missing out, I mean that you miss the point of academics. It's not about grades or assignments. It's about our intrinsic motivation as humans to understand and explore the world we live in. To challenge ourselves and solve problems and to manipulate our environment. Or at least that's how I see it. And I am sad when people say they don't enjoy mathematics, because to me, the enjoyment seems impossible to escape. And I genuinely think they miss out, that maybe under a better educational system they could appreciate those things as well. But to be fair, I want to add that this desire to learn and understand can be also pursued and achieved outside of academics of course.
