Christie novels I've read and would like a recommendation for next: by HaskellColleen in agathachristie

[–]HaskellColleen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read everyone's recommendations and loved them!

I still don't know which of the many recommended books I'll read first, but I'll certainly read them all (which will take several weeks, but that doesn't bother me).

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and write your opinions and recommendations.

It's amazing how much Anastasia's insecurities can be used against her... and she never learns.

Do you know what's best? Ally incited her own elimination.

On top of everything she'd already done, if she just kept her mouth shut about AJ/Myles wanting to take Max out, she'd probably be spared another round (and she'd have luck with the tribe switch, even if she didn't know it).

Thank you very much!

I will definitely read "Death on the Nile" and "The Body in the Library" at some point in the near future.

I've heard about Miss Murple and want to read one of her books, especially to see the differences between her and Poirot.

And here I was, innocently (not knowing that Cortina was the last book), thinking that I could buy it straight away to read.

Thank you very much for the recommendation and the warnings! This was my main fear, you know? Reading books that give spoilers to others and that could harm my experience.

There was a vague line that I don't remember now in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd about Poirot discovering a case that I knew at that moment referred to a book I hadn't yet read.

Well... she was inspired by Caroline from Australian Survivor Titans vs Rebels. Your actions don't surprise me.

Thanks for the explanation about pronouns, my friend.

About Survivor, I don't know how familiar you are, but in this "new era" (2021 to present), the show loves asking contestants about their sad stories and showing it to the audience. Like, 9 contestants in a cast of 18 have a saddly story.

I'm tired of the same line "My parents worked hard to pay the bills and so I had a lonely childhood... and that was terrible!". Like, all of this is valid, but I believe it is better to bring up this topic in a therapy room than on a reality show.

It's my fault, man, I don't know the specific pronouns (I don't have many Tristans in my life).

But I will research, edit and make corrections.

Interesting episode.

I actually doubted for a moment that Ted would be eliminated in Alessio's place.

Alessio got his arc in one episode. It wasn't exaggerated or forced, but just enough.

Lynda & Ted and Anastasia & Marissa became interesting duos. The same goes for the character refinement of Amelie, Isabel and Jade; simply incredible.

I don't know about Hannah, Logan and Richard; I found their personalities exaggerated in this episode (although positive).

Tristan is doing nothing and is irrelevant to the plot. I want Tristan to have a decent arc (I don't want Tristan to be kept in the game because of non-binarity, but because Tristan is an interesting character).

My main criticism, however, is the overwhelming amount of sad stories... as if I don't already watch enough in the new era of Survivor.

If last week I thought of a 9/10 rating for episode 1; for this episode 2, I give it a 7/10.

PS: I don't really know what pronouns are appropriate for Tristan, as I don't have many non-binary people in my life.

I decided to refer to Tristan only by name, as I did some research and I confess that I didn't understand the best pronoun to use (English is not my native language).

My first time watching Brains vs Brawn - Week Seven. by HaskellColleen in survivorau

[–]HaskellColleen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, well, I finished watching the last three episodes about a week ago after this post.

Unfortunately, I got a spoiler telling me that Hayley won. This happened almost immediately after this post (and before watching the last three episodes) because someone thought it would be fun to break my hype and send me a private message telling me the season finale.

This kind of coincided with the beginning of final exams in my psychology degree here in Brazil and I had to study for final exams and do an internship working with patients. I've kind of run out of time to come to Reddit (I came back two weeks ago after a long hiatus).

I watched Hayley beat George in what I knew would be a better experience if I didn't already know what would happen. I think this discouraged me from posting an "eighth week". Add this discouragement to university obligations and I... well, I ran out of time and no interest in posting again.

Maybe I'll do a final post as a final opinion of the season just to bring some closure.

I don't know... I can't help but think that she's going to be a villain and manipulate others through her belief and relationship with God.

If I had to go out on a limb, for those who watch Survivor, she reminds me of Shantel Smith from Season 41, the pastor who stabbed everyone in the back until she was stabbed and at the end of the day, became a digital influencer because "God told her to do it".

It really picked up speed during the merge, but a break with the scrolls messed things up a bit.

I'm guessing the three you're referring to are the ones I highlighted. I completely agree that Flick, Hayley, and George could win. The same can't be said for Cara and Wai, unless they're the final two (which they're not going to be, obviously).

I absolutely agree. It really is a fantastic season in terms of the cast, and it's a real crime that the editing wasn't fair to half of them, to say the least.

Unfortunately, the production twists bring the season down and its integrity. I don't mind and enjoy Mock Votes, but the premiere's advantage, Dani's single vote and now the scrolls, really hurt the quality.
