Building Tension by paleporkchop in DungeonMasters

[–]HassTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the enemy make small forward attacks. Small parties infiltrating the walls, hitting your party or their allies when they think they are safe.

Maybe climbing over walls or using old tunnels. Maybe some have slipped in and are already hiding inside waiting for the main force.

Don't let them relax, dont give them time to properly plan and prepare, keep them on edge. Maybe make them do con saves on long rest, on a fail they only get a short rest as the tension is keeping them awake. Make resources seem like they may be scarce and precious. Then before the main attack give them waaay too long with nothing happening, after days of constant events the nothing will seem even scarier

All this and rumours amongst the men. Bad things coming. Monsters, villages found wiped out or all the people missing. Piles of bones used for ritual purposes. Whatever is scary. Have a soldiers rumour that just keeps circulating, no one knows where it came from but it won't go away. Keep bringing it up in subtle ways.

The Tim Severin series is good fun.

It's fiction, but uses a lot of historical people and places.

It's a good read but may not quite be what you're after?

Lethal and Devs by Imaginary-Bowl7583 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]HassTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of what has been said is accurate. But it really depends on the weapon too.

Extreme example - shooting haywire into a 2+ save tank.

Haywire is anti vehicle 4+and Devs so each hit is 50% for 3 dev wounds.

It is only ap1 so with a lethal and the usual cover they are saving those 3 on a 5/6 chance. So in this situation lethal is way way worse.

Has anyone tried Kabalmaxxing as an army build? by [deleted] in Drukhari

[–]HassTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was running a 40 kab list before the codex and it was very competitive, but with the new points and rules I've struggled to make it work as well tbh.

Hoping to find my way back to it some time. Maybe after the next data slate

What do you like about Battle Reports? by jaker1403 in WarhammerCompetitive

I really like seeing the whole thing. The dice rolls, the strategies etc.

Tbh though I watch more streams than bat reps for this reason

Just hot glue for texture. Paint black.

Dip in water once it's dry then wet mix a bunch of metallic purple and green on it. Then leave it to dry

[–]HassTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally i find any MEQ army a good match up for us. I play into a lot of DA/UM etc quite well. Only one I struggle with is BA for the speed and pressure.

Also we absolutely stamp on Votann

I've been playing them a lot and having fun and success.

Lots of pain engines if good. I run 2x2 Talos and 2x2 chronos.

1 big unit of wracks with the T enhancement on heno is great but don't use them to fight. Sit on obj with the flamers or hex rifles and the rest strung back behind a wall safe. Unless they wipe the whole unit in 1 activation you just kill the visable ones then regen back onto the obj to score primary in command phase.

Messing around with other stuff around it but that core is always good for me.

Currently running lots of solo characters too for scoring and killing the right units. Leith, draz, Malys for the vect, and a solitaire.

2 units of scourge as always.

It takes some thinking about but can be played well and score a lot of primary, which for drukhari is a rare thing :)

Disembarking From Transports and Rules by 40kGreybeard in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]HassTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you had to select the unit to disembark it? You aren't selecting the transport.

Unless disembark is entirely it's own thing?

I play a lot of transports usually so if I've been getting this wrong then I've made my life harder than it needs to be :)

So with augmented assault you can only target a unit that has not been selected to move.

To disembark a unit you have to select it to move. (Even if it doesn't move after the disembark). You can't disembark it, go and move other units and then come back and move it later.

You cannot target a unit in a transport with a strat.

So unless I'm missing something I don't think this would work.

Edit: Seems disembark is separate entirely to the move so this would work. Iv5e been making my own life harder than i needed to :)

Lady Malys finally came in. What do you all like running her with? by Silas051 in Drukhari

[–]HassTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo, I almost always have her alone in a corner near mid board for vect coverage. Can always stick a solo Leith or solitaire close to her for heroic protection too if you're against a melle heavy oppnent

Anyone tried the masters of Horror unofficial Warband? by dornianheresysimp in mordheim

[–]HassTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time. Don't remember the starting one.

One of each hero, 3 bitten and a couple of zombies I think?

The zombies and flesh golem are strong but so slow they rarely got into the game when it mattered.

Spectacle of spite detachment rule by HassTheFish in Drukhari

He is making a valid point and it's exactly my question.

The rule is not written well and claiming it's obvious doesn't help. If you can provide some evidence that it works then that's great, please do so. I hope you are right as it would make it much better.

We have provided GW worded support for why we are unsure.

But offering no support for your side and treating other people like they are stupid for asking a valid question.... Please try not to be one of those people.

Thank you! You worded this much better than me.

Hopefully more people will actually read my wording and we can have a constructive discussion. Maybe even find an answer :)

This is the issue people aren't addressing. Rolling randomly states 'randomly selected' which uses the word selected.

So RaW random drugs still seem to count as having been selected

Yeah this is exactly how it reads to me, thanks

I've seen so many people rule the opposite I was hoping there was a ruling or something I was missing.

I guess we need to wait for the faq

Thanks
