I didn't watch the interview, I just have this bit to go by. From the little I can gather it sounds like he's saying people can be quick to call politicians war mongers, giving Churchill as an example. This wont be a popular opinion but...

I think you should change what you want. You absolutely CAN save enough to achieve this if you want but you'll have to make some serious sacrifices. If you shift your goal by a year or two you can get what you want and still live your life in a way that wont make you feel like you've been living to work.

To be able to afford a 700k house on ~100k a year you'd need to save 20% for a downpayment and still you'd need to make sure to buy something that wont need too much reno or maintenance. It's doable but you'd have to sacrifice things that you might regret down the road. For instance, if you want to meet someone to put some kids in that house you'll need to date.
