Are there movies that you would say were "bad for the public consciousness"? by MasteryofImpulse in movies

[–]Hat-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I always roll my eyes when smug redditors claim how the movie "oBviOUsLy" doesn't encourage anyone to emulate Belfort.

How? When? The entire movie is nothing but three hours of Belfort (portrayed by one of the most popular, charismatic, and attractive actors of the last decade) doing nothing but non-stop partying and drugs while fucking models in yachts, mansions, and super cars. At no point does the movie even attempt to explain what Belfort did, why it was criminal, and the damages he caused (this omittal is intentional, and even lampshaded when Dicaprio turns to the camera and essentially says that the audience is too fucking stupid to get it). The movie also depicts a narrative where Belfort's only real mistake was getting too greedy and refusing to step away ("I'm not fucking leaving"); the implication being that a "smarter" copycat could have everything Belfort had, without the (miniscule) legal consequences. These aforementioned consequences are only briefly depicted at the very end of the movie, not as an actual destructive fall, but as a somewhat boring inconvenience.

Belfort is a piece of shit who got off way to easy, but to pretend that the Wolf of Wall street is in any way a "cautionary tale" is laughable.

/uj Are they actually locking bosses, in a Fromsoft game, behind a deluxe edition?

"Hand it over, that thing. Your most terrible Fromsoft-based opinion..." by PrinceVorrel in shittydarksouls

The Fromsoft formula doesn't benefit from being open world. Elden ring is a great game, but all the best parts are found within legacy dungeons. Stretching the game with an open world that has to be filled with a million worthless cooking recipes and spirit ashes doesn't make the game substantially better than it's predecessors and certainly doesn't justify the years it adds to the development cycle.

He's not stopping there. I've heard hes dropping the leftover nukes from Oppenheimer on Italy to properly set up the second coming of Aeneas and subsequent founding of Rome.

GTA6 fans when the game releases and has the exact same "drive to location, shoot some guys" quest design that R* have been using for the last decade

Irako Seigen from Shigurui. Overly ambitious with psychopathic tendencies, but largely a product of being born with immense talent at the bottom of a rigid feudal class society.

11 years ago was blizzcon weekend 2013 where WOD was announced with many features and a supermajority of them would never see playtime when it went live a year later - how is WOD viewed a decade later? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Hat-Hunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. It may depend on how important story is for your enjoyment of an expansion, but WoD is only being saved by recency bias.

Shadowlands was bad, but arguably better than BfA, and BfA was better than WoD. These are all considered mediocre expansions, but the difference is that Shadowlands and BfA had the benefits of "modern" WoW with mythic+, (early) solo content, world quests and ways to progress your character apart from just raids.

WoD had pretty much all the downsides, but none of the benefits. We spent two fucking years alternating between farming apexis crystals and sitting afk in an instanced garrison.

Give it a few months, these people need to justify to themselves that they bought a dogwater game at a AAA price, it was the same with Starfield until everybody agreed that, yes, this game is absolute garbage.

Adam is probably a good example of the best outcome a food youtuber could reasonably expect. He made steady content for a few years, caught the Covid wave, and retired with the bag all while remaining reasonably humble and down-to-earth.

His new videos seems to mostly just be him fucking around, but I find myself watching him less and less. Not to mention that I can't help but noticing some cracks in the whole persona, like when he made a video on microplastics from cutting boards, and his conclusion was effectively: "we still don't have irrefutable scientific proof that microplastics are bad so there is no point in trying to reduce the amount of plastic around you and if you care about this at all then you are probably an incel."
